It wouldn't get used.
Go try Scream's chat room. It's usually empty and they have ten times the amount of traffic we do.
I personally think chat rooms take away from a message board. A message board becomes a searchable reference that people can use at their leisure.

Z set up a chat room long ago. No one used it. He even tried schedueled chats. Still nothing. One or two members would show up.
It's one of those things that sounds like a nice feature but in reality doesn't get used. And I still maintain it leaves no record afterwards. So people cant search through like the board and find helpful info.
Just my .02 cents.

Live chat rooms attract people wanting to talk about things that do not include boats (what ever pops up) if you know what I mean. This site is great just the way it is. Hope it stay's this way! Thanks for a great place to talk Mate's. boatman

I had a chat room on my site for a while, I don't remember anyone visiting so I took it down.
Some of us do chat back an forth on AIM. I like that pretty well, bdusted440 and I use that quite a bit.
I am getting bedusted440 set up with teamspeak2, that way we dont have to type so much, we just talk into the mic, to each other just like an intercom.
I use that quite a bit with people I know.
