merc 2.0 135hp question

I just picked up a 2.0 135hp merc v6 blackmax off a friend and im going to try and get alittle bit more power outta the engine. It already has a tuner in the mid but my question is, if you change the front half and carbs, cant you make it a 150? What carbs would you need to do this?

From what I hear A set of carbs from a 150 will help a bunch Just what I hear though, you should also look into cutting the heads. the compression increase should give you a good boost as well. Look over on Scream and fly. there are a coupla guys on there who beef up the 2.0l with som e great results.
Also just in case you didn't know. a 2.4 or 2.5 power head will drop onto that mid no problem.;););). With the 2.0-1 lower you would have a beast of a hole shot.
What year is it?

Changing to a 2.4 or 2.5 warrants an adapter plate change to compensate for the bigger exhaust ports, bigger carbs are best. You can go to 200 carbs also with jetting changes. The 2.0 will rev better, as the 2.4 2.5 has more low end grunt. I prefer the higher winding 2.0. Smallbores.
You can also go with horizontal reeds and a stuffed intake :D

Definitely shaved heads for better compression and throttle response!

If you want to go faster, I would just buy a motor with more HP. Lots easier, lots less head aches.

And a bigger budget, I agree, I think we would all just want to get bigger power, but unfortunetly as we all know well, money is a huge factor.
:(:(:(
A lot of guys scrape together what they can and go from there. Thats also why this site is great. Lots of resourses avalible if you look around and ask the right questions.

the 2.0l are great motors. I would agree if you want to go faster buy a bigger motor. A running motor with no mods will always bring good coin so you can upgrade to something bigger.

It's more fun to buy parts as you go and see the difference it makes and possibly work up to buying a better motor, but who wants to lay down an extra grand after you sell your motor to find out that you did all the mods yourself and it made no difference buying a bigger motor.
