thanks big red:thumb:sorry about that "msmile" i could not post them with the format you sent me:cheers:they are here now and that is all that matters.......... wish i could race that lil' bugger:poke:

Msmile, I must pull real hard to see if I can get my foot out of my mouth! I thought the conversation was about Baja's vs Checkmate's. So, I ASSumed you were talikng about a 20' C-mate and not 600lb. 20" Allison. Those are fast boats! Now that the foot is, doe's anybody have something to remove the taste? yuck:sick: :cheers:boatman

Im with you boatman, the allys run well ALL the time, thats one bad a$$ boat, and I see the point about being whooped up on by a 115.
I have to say again though, that doesnt show me, you or anyone else how slow the H2X is, it just doesnt.
put any checkmate in there with stock big block power, wouldnt touch you either.
you can fill in the blank with many boat manufacturers.

msmile, love the boat, love the story........would have loved to been in there blowing right past them. I just dont feel its "fair" (for lack of other word) to say poor engineering etc, when 95% of all boats fit into that catergory. many of which are not just built to be fast, as your ally is.

Im not here to bicker and argue, I just get tired of all the bashing one way or the other.
Ill get over it.

boatman--
The boat was 747#, about the same weight as a C-mate predictor. I never listed the make of rig purposely, until inquiring minds wanted to know. My point was an H2x (with 2 engine upgrades-310-365-415) got beat by a lake boat with a 115. The make of the boat was irrelevant. Sorry if there was confusion as to make/model. The h2x was slow. My comparison as per the thread highlighted one of the H2x's shortcomings.

Beers ago, Cadillac made a car called the "Cimmaron" (spelling?). It was nothing more than a chevy cavalier w/ a different grill and leather. It was a total flop. People didn't want a Caddy/econobox. IMO, C-mate is doing the same thing w/ the h2x. The boat has already tarnished C-mates reputation which took years (decades) to build.

There is a small difference. Caddy took a cheap car and put there name on it without improving the quality to Caddy standards. Bad move, why pay more for chevy just because it says Caddy? Checkmate took a boat that sold very well, but the quality sucked! Now they are hand laying the boat w/balsa core and cleaning up the chit that Baja created. Yes, the H2x's are a dime a dozen. Not because of there looks, but the cheap a$$ way that Baja built them. I don't think anyone goes boat shopping, looks at a boat, says to themselves, "damn what an ugly boat" I think I will buy it. No, it will probably never run as fast as a C-mate with the same hp. But like I have said before, it may help keep the doors open at C-mate so that Tracker Marine doesn't end up building C-mates after they close down. That is also not fair picking on the I/O's with a little OB:D. Everyone knows that 2-strokes Rule!:rof: boatman

LOL...

I thought to myself, he has to be in an Allison... He never said he was in a Checkmate... And I was right :bigthumb: That's a really good dialed in 115 you have there. I've seen a few Ally's with 150's running 80+, but never a 115. Awesome!

Ahh yes, the SS2000. I'd LOVE to have one of those in RED with the black fairings.........

i thought i read it was a smaller boat, couldnt recall a brand :brickwall: ,you slid 1 bye while everyone was trippin on emotion over the 2old / new models !

Boatman--
Any analogy carried far enough will break down. Your point is well taken. As for string-jerkers ruling...maybe. If you want really big hp and speed the car motor is the way to go. With the advent of the big hp/DI outboard checkmate and others are onto something. The new 24 C-Mate with a 300xs is a dandy. Speed compares to a big block while mpg is far superior. Fuel right now is cheap (1.67 here) but that will change in time for boating/vacation season. A DI vs a big block @ $3-4/gallon is a substantial savings.

JW & Jonny--
I had many motors on that boat. I would dial-in and go onto something else. The 115 was by far the most fun and the mpg was good if you stayed off the throttle. In 1999ish Merc offered a new 150 ProMax SS for $7000 retail. The SS/150 combo ran well into the 90's (97), 95 w/ two men. The 150 was absolutely stock except the pipe was changed to a 2.4 version. Original pipe was a joke and had to be 14-16 inches long.

Everybody keeps talking on how better the O/B is better on fuel. Well I have owned 2 boats with outboards. 200 Black Max's and I do not feel their better on gas. I think my Convincor does good on fuel.

I would like to see some figures before everbody keeps saying the o/b is better on fuel, I cant agree,

2400 with a 300 O/B verses a 25 or 26 Convincor with a 496

Hey Red, The older OB's like my 1996 225, suck gas! It's the newer DI motor's that are giving the good fuel numbers. I will be the first to tell you that a stock 454, 496 burns less fuel than mine. boatman

Why the hell are you guys alwasy sooo much cheaper then us?!?!?!? I filled up my short bus today for reg unleaded at 1.93 and that is hands down the cheapest around! Most places on the Iowa side of the Quad Cities are over 2 buck for Reg Unleaded!!:brickwall::brickwall:

BR i think the fuel mpg is to much to compare on simple basis of everybody drives different , has different rigs, hp etc... unless you have a set test speed/rpm to compare @ for baseline !
