New 2006 Optimax 225 sluggish?

I could use some advice or input please. My new 225 Opti seems to me to hesitate just a little out of the hole (seems to "struggle") for about 3-5 seconds before really taking off. Now that is true even when pulling no skier. But it is really a problem when trying to pull a big skier, like me! Help....is this normal behavior for an Opti behind a 2100 Pulsare BR?

Is the engine hesitating or is the prop lacking holeshot? If the prop does not have vent holes, you can create ventilation by puttig a spacer between the thust washer and the prop. 1/8" will make a huge difference in your holeshot.

BTW, You can make the spacers by buying 3/4" SS washers and drilling the out to 1". 1" washers are too big on the shaft. Almost all big boats with high pitch props need some ventilation to get them to spool up on holeshot, that's why Merc props all have pvc plugs.
