New Checkmate Owner in Sweet Home Alabama

Hello, my husband and I just purchased our first Checkmate. It is a 1979 Checkmate Enchanter with a 1988 150hp Evinrude. It needs a new gelcoat, and of course I want to make it look "pretty" so I am doing the seats and we put new carpet in yesterday (that was fun). The motor is solid and runs like a champ. We are excited to start this project and fix this boat up together. I can not tell you how nice it is to work hard all day and meet the husband at the lake and go for a nice evening boat ride:) I am in love with this boat already!

Welcome! I think you expressed what everyone on this board feels. If you have any questions, there are many knowledgable folks (not me) on this forum. Just ask.

That's cool. Don't see many checkmates below Kentucky. We are 20 miles north of chattanooga.

We took it out on Lake Harding today, and we definitely saw some eyes turning to look at her and got a few compliments. We tested the tube today and got in the water, we had a blast!
