Hey guys, Im a newbie in the boating world and took ownership of my dads 1987 starflite with merc laser 220 that he bought new. The boat hasnt seen water in 15 year but was garage keep. Im im the proccess of restoring its former glory and getting this baby back in the water and where she belongs, keeping the prop at the top of the chop. If any of you guy are in the Nichoalsville/lexington ky area and dont mind schooling me on boats, come on down one day and Ill pay for knowledge with beer.

Welcome!! Makes me miss my old starflite!! Get her running and bring that thing down to Cumberland!!! There are a bunch of us Checkmate owners that are out and about down there just about every weekend.

Welcome to the Obsession! I will hopefully be moving to the Lexington/Berea area in a few years. Thats a good looking Flite! Keep us updated!

Do you have single or dual cable steering? You should at least have dual for safety. If you can afford to go hydraulic seastar kit, you will never regret it.

Man, I still have the cables that came off my starflite when I converted to hydraulic. I'll give you everything I have steering related for some beer!! Its located in Burnside KY, but my parents make trips up to your area on a regular basis and could meet ya, or if you are in a hurry, head on down and pick it up!! That'll get ya on the water!!!!

it has dual, but the main steering cable froze in the tilt tube. I had to cut the old cable to take the tit tube out of the mount so i could beat out the frozen piece and save the tilt tube. the secondary cable it in good shape.
