18ft checkmate

New member
Good morning,

I just bought an '89 18' Checkmate. Completely redone, exterior, interior, and engine (bored out 350 now 355). Problem is, I have NO IDEA what model the boat is. I'll post some pics - maybe someone can help?!

at 18' it is either going to be a starlet (bow ride with sun pad), or a starfire (closed bow with sun pad) with a 350. it could be a repowered sportfire (closed bow no sun pad), or diplomat (open bow no sun pad).

The senator is a 20 foot boat. to post pictures easiest get a photobucket account (its free). then copy the link for the picture. then hit the icon in reply that looks like there are mountains

when the window pops up past the link in the box. it should show your picture.

Hey, wow - thanks for all of the "welcomes!" I'm in Traverse City, Michigan. Back to the boat ... after reading some of the responses, I measured the boat ... it's 19 1/2 ft with a 7.5 beam. I'll get some pictures of it on photobucket this weekend.

I LOVE this boat. I grew up boating all of my life. We had a 19' Sea Ray Seville. Everywhere we went, the other families whooped us on the way to the island, the sandbar, or just tooling around. Needless to say, the kids and I aren't getting whooped :) This boat is so beautiful, so solid, and so fast.

I look forward to seeing some of you out on the water sometime.

Welcome,
Once you post your pics on photobucket just copy and paste them to your post. This is easier and goes around having links and thumbnail pictures.:thumb:
