New Persuader

Hello all, I just purchased a 21' 93 219 persuader yesterday. This is my first post. It has a 300hp 454. Its just a little jump from my 83 Renken 4cyl.... Just wondering if anyone had anything I should watch for with these boats and what kind of speed I can expect with it. I forget what prop its got on it. Also, a winterization question, the dealership hooked the muffs up to it and ran the antifreeze through while fogging it but I didnt pay attention to how warm it was. The antifreeze was coming out the exhaust but is there any kind of by pass until the thermostat opens up? Im just worried it wasnt really warm. Thanks!

:welcome:
Where is the boat stored? North Carolina or North Alaska? IF you're unsure of the winterization process, buy a couple gallons of RV anti-freeze. Unhook the hoses at the top front of the engine, proceed to pour both gallons down all of the rubber hoses until you've used up both gallons. You should be OK, as long as the dealer has been winterizing boats with success for many years.

If the t-stat didn't pop open because the engine never warmed up, then the anti-freeze hasn't circulated through the engine and it needs to be done ASAP.

It might be easier to just drain the whole thing at this point.

Welcome abord mate! I have a 97 Persauder 219 w/ the same block and a M1 Procharger, its been a fun boat so far.

Thanks for the input! The reason I asked about winterization is the boat is still at the dealership about 4.5 hrs away until I go back to get it when the trailer comes in. just something I was thinking about on the way home.

I sold my 1993 219 persuader last year, it had a bit more than 300 hp though. (601hp) It was a fun boat to drive, you had to pay attention once you got into the 70's or you could scare the poop out of any passenger you had. A very weight and torque sensative boat. Enjoy and post pics when you can.

Well I finally had it out yesterday after looking at it since december. I ended up getting 62 with a full tank of gas and 4 people, water was a litttle rough. I guess this sounds about right? I was hoping for a little closer 70. I did bring a few golf carts out of the camp ground to line up along the bank and watch me making passes... :D

Did you bring the trim up some to let the boat "fly"? Trimmed down will slow you down a bunch.

Yep, I had the trim tabs all the way up and bumped the trim up until it started to"fly". What rpm should I be when wide open? I was about 4200

Those things love trim!!
My 94 219 with a small block hit 62.
the fastest passes were always with a relatively short, like 3 to 4 foot tall but vary long rooster tail.
If you're not throwing a rooster tail then you don't have enough trim.
I know because I tried it and from having the trim down to alll the way up was like 10 mph or more difference.
