New to the family!

Hey all! Just purchased my first checkmate! 1999 ZT280 w/500efi. Haven't brought it home yet, weather still suck's! (MI) Can't wait to splash it and see how it rides. All I hear are good things and my buddy has a baja that I can't wait to whoop up on! :bigthumb:

Is that a tri axle trailer your boat is sitting on. Most Checkmates I have seen with a tri axle trailer had twin engines

That was Andy's boat. I sold him the steering kit he added to it. He has a reputation for taking good care of his equipment.

Enjoy the ZT, I love the performance of mine.

never pulled a triaxle boat trailer before - i bet they don't like backing up into tight corners though

Good catch. You are correct in both ways. I ran into Andy a couple years ago at Hardy and looked at it then, decided that was my next boat! I could do without the cool factor of the third axle. Also ,nice to meet you Kelly O!

Welcome to the family, all of us in Michigan are waiting for warmer weather too

and ontario too - it was -20 year last night going to -24 tonight - this is supposed to be spring - the predictor is calling to me:brickwall:

Thanks all for the welcome and nice to meet you! I'm thinking that +20 is cold and your telling me -20 !!!!! :eyecrazy:
When do you get too put a boat in the water, July!?!

Welcome to the family RC!! Don't sweat the tripple axle trailer, they tow fine. The biggest problem with a boat like yours is that it's light for it's size, and many trailer manufacturers don't carry the right weight axle to build a tripple properly for a boat of that weight. Case in point.....we had a tandem built for our 2000 Pulsare, and most are riding on singles. I wanted the tandem look like many others, but the problem was that the trailer was sprung too heavy and would have beat the $hi+ out of the boat bouncing down the road. Sooooooo, Prestige special ordered lighter axles which they don't normally use, so the suspension would "flex" properly. Problem solved. A tripple does look cool, but is way overkill for your boat. Don't worry about it.

can you take one of them axels out? i drive a semi and the front axel tires will wear like no other if you turn sharp! just a though i wouldnt think you would need 3 axels for that boat!

Congrats and welcome, looks very nice.

Here in NE Indiana we are also waiting for some warmth!!!

You need to bring that down to Lake James this summer and meet up on the sand bar. Very nice boat.
