OK NEED MORE SPEED:drool: I have a 86 checkmate STARFLITE with a 200 black max with exhaust and velocity stacks, also it has just been re-built. I took the boat out last weekend and only got 58, I was hopping for more. The whole shot is great but the top end is lacking, The bow foam is removed and i was the only one in the boat, also had 15 gal of fuel in the tank. the tac... read 6200rpm dont know what prop is on there, only know it is a turbo, i am about to put the 10in JP and see what that does but if anyone knows anything i don't let me know please. :cheers

first off- the jack plate will help! also you need to tell me what pitch of prop you have and i can help you! i have a '87 starflite w/ 200 merc. i've been prop testing over the weekend and can give you some advice! i'm running a 12" manual plate w/ a 23p prop 3 blade and have tried a 25p laser 2. if you want some more info pm me your name and i'll give you my number and we can chat! if not good luck!!!!

exhaust and velocity stacks are not going to give you any HP/torque than the 200 makes stock, more respone and a shift in torqe range but not more. You would need some engine mods like bigger carbs and machined ports to do that. Your setup is going to be the only thing to gain you some mph, if you are reading GPS then you don't have much more to go. Prop and setback are about it, lifting the engine isn't going to do too much unless you are going 80+ but putting the engine further back changes not only the bow lift but he efficiency of the prop. Going to a prop with a lot of rake will help lift the bow also so that you don't waste power with lots of + trim. Starflite is a fast but heavy hull nees some power to push it, with 250 hp @ 7000 RPM I just barely break 70 on GPS. -shane
