Prop Pulse 185

Slapshot

New member
I have a 1999 Pulse 185/150 EFI OMC. I have heard Raker and Renegade are both good. I currently have no jackplate, but have installed my pressure gauge, and intend on putting one on soon. What will be best for now and with plate: Raker 22 or 24 or Renegade 23 or 25. I have been challenged by a Rinker owner for Saturday. Has anyone tried any of these combinations.

Also I forgot to mention, I am currently running an OMC SST stainless, and getting 52mph gps, with me and my 9 year old on board, 3/4 tank of fuel. Engine runs great, I expected a little more mph.

I don't know too much about the dia. of OMC props but I think on a 150 a 24 or 25 pitch will be too much. I would try a prop before I bought it. I would say the 22 Raker would be a good start.

Regards,

Jim

What is you current RMP at wide open right now?
If you are in your rpm range then going up in pitch will not help you. The raker is a good lifting prop. Kind of like merc's laser.

slap,
your thinking the wrong way. Go with a 4 bladed turbo prop 2+2. It is 13 1/4 X 23. I have a 1990 pulse 185 with a cmc jack plate and have got it a little w.o.t. in chop and I am doing 57 mph. I can't wait for glass I think I might be over 60 + FYI keep an eye on your water pressure gauge and throttle down over chop. If that doesn't work I found a company to modify your propouston propeller 1-281-580-7767. they can modify your current prop

Thanks for the info guys. I have my jackplate installed (CMC 5.5) and am running a Renegade 25 4 blade. I am still playing with J/P height, but thus far pressue gauge is good and steady. RPM's are right in the powerband. I ran 57.5 gps (60 speedo) in chop, but need more testing. The boat picks up with + trim and bow lift. I still want to try a Raker 24 (bowlifting prop).
