Props and set-ups/91 pulse 18.6

Hey guys I just bought a 91 pulse with a 175 merc and a hydraulic jack plate. It has a 5 blade stainless prop with a 19 pitch. The boat gets out of the hole fairly decent but does have a little hesitation/ alot worse with about 4 or 5 people in the boat which is expected I guess. I am just wondering what some good set-ups would be or any tuning tips any one has to maybe make it a little faster out of the hole but keep a good top end. It does a good 61-61 mph now on top end. or atleast thats what I could get out of it. Also has anyone put hydraulic steering on these boats or no? I noticed it is very hard to steer at higher speeds. Please let me know what tips you guys got for a first time boat buyer.( I have lots of experince with boating tho) Thanks.
Jesse

they hydrolic jackplate should help steering some as long as your lifting the motor high enough.. i just put hydrolic steering on mine last year and it has helped steer at higher speeds tremendsly. its no problem driving it with 1 hand at full throttle.

When you say hesitation does it lag for a bit before spooling up ? You may need to vent the prop some more. Do you do a lot of watersports ? You may want to ditch the 5 blade for a 4 blade. I'm assuming the 5 blade is a hi-five ? which is a large barrel and small diameter prop.(12 3/4") I hate to beat the old school drum but the Trophy props are hard to beat for all around performance. You'll get good ventilation over the hub and through the PVS vents. I personally use a Trophy for watersports it pulls the skiiers and still can haul the mail topend.

Find some props to try everyone's setup is different.

Good Luck !

there are a bunch of guys here that can help. i think with a bit larger prop you can see 65. whats more important though? Top end or get up????

yes it has a bit of a lag before spooling up. I dont do much watersports and i would really rather c the top end at its best. thats more important to me than the holeshot. So your saying use a trophy prop then? what blade and pitch should i get around. i know all boats are different, im just looking for a good place to start. thanks guys.

I have the same Boat/Motor set up, no jack plate. I am running a 22p prop. I think it gets up pretty quick, I am planning on trying a 24.

i'm running a 26 pitch worked tempestplus prop. but my holeshot isn't the greatest with more that 2 people in the boat... but then again i rarely have a full boat.
