question on 15" motors

I was wondering what you guys thought about 15" mids or rather wondering if 15" motors would work on my 2800 obsx I will be usung a 24" stainless marine setback with a couple 4" or 6" manual plates. I think that i could get away with it if i am carefull coming off plain so i dont swamp the motors but what i am unsure about is if they would cavitate badly while getting on plane if you have any experience or thoughts please post them.

thanks

Bravo, I think for the very small gain you would get from 15" mids.....its probably not worth the time and $$. How's the project going? Keep posting pixs.

fwiw- I've seen pics of a Y2K superboat with twins that had 15" mids and it didn't look right, imo. I'm guessing it'd look the same on a 2800.

I dont think the gains would be good it is just that there is alot of 15" motors for sale for a good price and it sure would be nice not to have to plunk down 30K for motors next spring so that i can use the boat the first summer after it is done. SCT the progress got slowed up a bit due to work but I am going to start the transom this week I have it off the trailer and and ready to start, I also will be sandblasting the trailer for paint in hte next 2 weeks as well

Bravo, do you mean 20" motors instead of 15"? Except for drag motors, there are not a lot of 15" motors in big HP out there for sale.

Keep us posted on the progress!

no i meant 15" what i am referring to in availble is in my price range that i would like to spend for the upcoming season, my first choice is the 350 verados 2nd 300xs if i have to spend the big bucks right away,
