Radar Runs for Boats?

Riley

Member
Does anybody have any experience or info on radar runs for boats? My friends and I are trying to get one organized for next summer, but we dont know where to go for info about formats, course layout, insurance, etc. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks, Chris

Most of the speed runs as of late have been done on GPS. Most will record and store top speed.

Riley,
Two things that are key, work with the local authorities, get them on your side, and second, call it some sort of regatta or else insurance will be next to impossible and very, very expensive!

One of the biggest speed runs was just held at Shooter's 21 at Lake of the Ozarks. They hold their shoot-out the last week-end of August each year. Sure to include some real fast boats each year (many with speeds of 100+) One year they had a pontoon boat with triple 2.5s that ran over 70mph.
