Redneck AC

not in a boat. when I was a kid my grandfather had a rv that he tried to use a box fan and a cooler to try and cool an 18ft rv. the problem was that he had more beer in the cooler than ice.

lol I already figured a seperate cooler for the too. Thinking block ice for the ac unit. Just thinking give it a try and send back if it doesn't work. The cabin gets a bit warm in the middle of summer. Will test before use.

keep is informed, I personally don't think it will work well but it's worth a shot. I can see the infomercial now but wait theres more, if you order in the next 10 minutes we'll throw in a free cooler. just pay seperate shipping.

lol yes I agree, but i read reveiws and poeple say it works. Figure what the hect The wife wants to get it, I'll try it.

I'm concerned. If the cooler in question has a block of ice in it, will that not cut down on available space for beverages! I wonder ifin the free cooler that RD is mentioning comes in an attractive color...

Just placed my order so I can receive my attractivly colored complimentry cooler while supplies last. Only problem now is findin room for all of the extra fuel, parts, and tools necessary for a day on the water.

Hold the phone, I had an epiphany when the Roshgo company immediatly turned down my Playpal card. What if we just throw the ice right into the engine compartment and sit right next to the bilge blower outlet at the stern. I'm gonna get some cool air and possibly cure some of the overheat condition on the 2.5 Merc that's sittin down in there... Also, without havin to buy the unit and power supply, battery adapters, and extension cord, I may have just saved 100.74 plus shipping. Sure gonna miss that attractive cooler though.

I think it would work.....I don't think it will cut the humidity down much and I bet the ice in the cooler will melt quite quickly.......need to bring 3 more coolers of just ice for overnight stays.....

Happy to report that Keith's idea of filling the bilge with ice and then utilizing the bilge blower works pretty fair. By duct tapeing a spare piece of blower hose that was rolling around in the engine compartment to the bilge vent with, you guessed it RD, pink duct tape,( much more attractive than it sounds ) I was the hit of the lake. Although, too much ice is remarkably like too much water, when the level in the bilge is the concern. A coupla of added benefits are the effects of cold air on the anatomy of a certain Russian woman and if you have enough ice in the engine compartment, it will fly up into the flywheel and turn into crushed ice during high 'G' manouvering. After the 2.5 starts heatin up (as usual), the water commin out of the bilge drain hose is nice and cold, if you can just get past the fuel and oil taste. Heck, I'm gonna try throwin some kool aid and sugar in there and see what happens, betcha the homeless guy will try it. I've darn near talked him into tryin the slalom ski that is made out of 1/2 inch plate steel...

Just buy it and return it. I think the offer is to keep the complementary pink cooler :rof:

The E-Mail company turned down my offer of using my Playpal account, so I'm out of luck on this one. Figure I'll just paint up what I got although I got to get around the ban on me at the local Wally World.
