Pulse 186/150 Prop Experience

I have a Pulse 186 with a Merc 150EFI and I started with just one prop - a SS LaserII 22 like yours. The LaserII wasn't real quick out of the hole with 4 people but seemed fast on plane (no gps speeds recorded but I can get to max rpm's). I didn't even try pulling a skier or tube with it. I saw other folks here that seemed to be collecting (then later selling) expensive SS props so I took a different route. I purchased a Michigan Wheel Aluminum 4 blade 22 pitch prop on Ebay for $60 to see how a 4 blade worked out of the hole and for skiing/tubing. The 4 blade comes out of the hole much better and stays on plane longer at lower speeds with a tube or ski and I didn't lose any RPM's on the top end, speed may be another issue but again I don't track it with a gps. Other posters have mentioned that a 4 blade prop provides more stern lift out of the hole and I would agree. I checked the Mercury web site "prop selector" and I am now looking for a 4 or 5 blade prop in the 25 pitch range in stainless steel.

Hope this helps.
