Spare Parts

I had to get a steering mount the other day, the rod for a manual steering, so I checked on Craigs list a found someone nearby that sell used parts. Well the guy had about a dozen boats, thousands of parts, a real junk yard of boat stuff. He pointed out to me some examples of what he sells and how by selling at about a third of the new costs he does just fine. I paid $75 for a $250 part and it I was shocked at how something so simple looking could cost so much. I guess I shows that sites like this really help in imforming boaters of their options?
