steering cable problem.

Hi everybody,
I have an 84 enchanter with a 1999 225 yamaha vmax with a double cable steering setup. One of the cables is froze up so I want to replace them. What is the best way to disconnect the old ones from the motor end? I had a bitch of a time disconnecting the front from the steering column due to the fact that I am new to boat related repairs. I got it done but cant seem to figure out how to remove the motor end. I consider myself mechanically inclined but I am missing something here. Maybe its the heat. Any help from the forum members would be appreciated. Thank you.

Scott
