Stock vs Coned lower vs CLE gearcase

Since the general consensus seems to be that a cle/sportmaster gearcase is not right under 80 plus mph, what do you guys run? Stock case with holes closed up, or coned stock case ( which should be the same result as cle) Exciter, 200hp 2.4 plastic reeds solid mounts 6in setback new floor and transom, solid boat. Motor has airbox removed, no oil injection, re jetted, (not completely stock). In order to run level to an inch below you need low water pickup right?
