i have a 99 zt 240 with a 383 small block thinking of putting a imco shorty drive on does anyone have any info on this ?

10-4 with Red. I just added a 2" imco shortie to my 234 Persuader with a mildly warmed 468. I personally haven't ran it yet, but Jamie from Lakeside, who did all this years mods for me, claimed no higher top speed, and a bit of prop blow out when coming up on plane. However, the top speed may have been affected by the addition of larger K-planes which cause a small bit of drag.
The upside is it's the proper part to buy if you plan on adding smoke to the motor. the prop shaft is larger and it will handle a lot more power. I had to try a different prop due to the hub size difference, and went with a Rev4 of the same pitch as the Bravo. My RPM's are a tad high so perhaps a taller prop will give me a few mph. Handling and running characteristics seem to equal the bravo, so all is good there. I suspect the other disadvantage (other that price) would be running fast in rough water. With 2" less in the drink, it will cavitate more. That's where the Rev 4 will help. I'll know more in a few weeks when i get 'er back.
With a blower motor coming next year, i'm all ready in the outdrive dept.;)
