pulsare 185 top speed

hey all i was wondering what i should expect for top speed out of my 185 its an 06 with a 175 opti. i dont have a gps speedo but the factory merc speedo i heard isnt that far off.

i dont know how accurate the pitot pick up speedometer i have is but last year the fastest i had it was 70 then the pitot line blew off the speedo

r u running a jackplate with it? what kind of prop do you have on their? if its not gps then your speedo isn't going to be to accurate at top speeds

im running a detwiller hydraulic jack plate with a six inch set back. im also turn a 14x22 ventilated prop which i set to have thinned lab finshed and tweeked a little more

u must be turning alot of rpms? is how many blades is that prop.. i have 8" of setback on mine with a 175 merc efi.. and am running a 25 pitch tempest 3 blade.

i would say you are at 53 to 55

prop calc figures with 10 percent slip(normal)

this does not figure in lab finished 4-blade props but should be in the ballpark

the only way to know for sure is to take a gps out with you

you might be able to spin a 3-blade faster but they don't handle as well
better on race day though

if you like the hole shot of the four blade keep it and find a 3-blade laserII for top speed

some people like a tempest 3-blade but get more chine walk

good luck hope this answers your question

not to burst your bubble but i have always found any spedo over 50 is off quite a bit. Maybe those expensive dual ski boat ones are better but GPS or radar is the way to go.

My pulse 186 running a 175 Merc with a stock factory speedo read 83 mph but when a cop used a radar gun I was going 67. Boy was that deflating! The next winter I installed a gps unit. I did get that rig to hit 70 with a jack plate, nose cone, exhaust tuner and the timing slightly advanced. I used a 23 inch ballistic prop after trying a trophy and tempest at the same 23 inch pitch.
