PROPer setup

Here's what I would run if I had your setup. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-...025QQitemZ380029114852QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V
It is a small hub Renegade 4 blade for a V4. I have seen them used for under $200, but they are not easy to find. The key to propping a V4 is to get as high a pitch as you can turn, with as small a diameter as possible. This is because these motors do not have great low end torque. This Renegade has a very small hub and will let your motor ventilate a bit and spool up quickly. You will also be able to add a jackplate and raise your motor without losing grip. Set up up properly it should get you to 50 MPH. Based on your HP to weight ratio I do not think you will see more. But it is always nice to ring everything you can out of a setup.:surf:

my enticer does the same thing. it has a hard time planing out at lower speeds so i have to open her up then i backer down after she planes. You'll have to keep me posted if the foil works!:poke:

I found this one seems to be just right for me, Apollo SS 13"x21p ( $265 ) for Johnny'rude 85-140 hp v4. I'm thinking about replacing the intake/carbs/exhaust on my 120hp with the 140hp parts to get a little boost, so this would work better I think because the Renegade on your link is made for 60-115hp 3cyl+4cyl and the Apollo has a smaller diameter for the same pitch :thumb:. Does anyone have bones with Apollo props?

That prop is almost exactly what you already have...a plain jane SS. Just because a prop is shiny......well, all props are not created equally. If you want more performance you need a higher performance prop. The Renegade is made for all OMC V4's up to 140HP.
If you are not going to add a Jackplate, have a look at a Ballistic. Small hub, easy to turn, fast and cheap when used.

I think I have a 19p on it now

I had one on my Diplomat and I could trim it right out without an trouble. I found when I added a 6" jackplate and started raising the engine height I had to go to a 4 blade. The Ballistic runs great on a transom mounted motor. I tried a whole whack of props and it was actually the fastest. I tell everyone...the key to propping a V4 is small diameter. The Ballistic is only 13 1/8". Combine that with the thin blades and you've got a fast prop.

Sounds great! thanks for all the input!!! :surf: I've been boating my whole life but since I got a check I'm constantly learning more and more about things I never thought twice about before. :bigthumb:
