Here is the one they are calling the 275zt

Boats look pretty nice to me, I am sure there will be lots of thoughts on the "new" models, but I am glad to see the company still making boats.

Looks just like the Baja to me so far cant wait till more pics come around. I hope they changed it more than the 244. I felt it was a exact copy of the h2x.

Personally I could care less if they go under if this is all they will produce.

Looks like a beehive of activity in the Checkmate plant....NOT!!

I wonder how many boats they built this year? Can't be many, when you check dealer stock online there are 2008's and to odd 2009 and no 2010's around at all.

How many "new" boats has your boat company built this year?

The last statement you made is nothing short of ignorant

Why is it ignorant when I like Checkmate for their looks ? And if they just produce Checkmates from old Baja molds what is their for me to like ? Maybe its just the name you like but I like the style they have carried threw the years not the Baja look.

I to like the mates for there styling and craftsmanship thats why i bought my 2100 pulsare and i am going to be purchasing another Brand New Mate soon, but out of 18 boats that are manufactered by checkmate there are only 3 that came from baja ( 2 of them i dont like but the 35 footer is a nice looking boat for my taste ) they have only dropped one mate hull for the 244 but still have the 240 so to say that you love mates so much but could care less if they go out of business because they build 3 boats that you dont care for is in my opinion IGNORANT they still make 15 great boats that will compete with or beat down other brands any day of the week. So one question i have for you red when do you plan on making your Brand new mate purchase, and if you dont plan on buying new why do these new boats bother you so bad, because where i come from money talks and bull s!!! walks

Which hull did they drop for the 244? 'Cause I don't remember that happening.

Hey Red, I've made it clear that I don't like these Beckmate models either. But, I wouldn't want to see them go under. If this is all they intend to produce then so be it, time to find a new mfg. That's if a new boat purchase is in the plan. I would be more concerned if Convincor and zt models were being dropped. Or if quality issues were being brought up.

Ultimately Checkmate is a business. Its all about sales and $$$. If they have to build a bunch of Baja lookalikes to succeed then they do it.:(

BTW, if we don't intend to buy a brand new boat anytime soon, our opinions don't mean too much to them:poke:

I'm all for Doug building whatever he wants to build, AS LONG as the checkmate quality is there, and the boats he builds keeps the company building the outboard boats that I prefer. And that he keeps enough checkmate employees around to fix the new baja employee mistakes......:poke:

I hope to see checkmate survive. I have a 96 and have needed a few trim pieces over the last eight months and everything I have asked about mike combs has been awesome about getting me. be a real pain in the ass if they went under. Mike also told me they are building more outboard boats than I/Os by quite a bit. it seems to me most of the people here are more into the old O/B mates anyway. lots of talk about old restorations etc... not too many threads about anyones newly purchased BRAND NEW boats. maybe that would be a good thread. lets see those new private party mates. I know wildman has bought his fair share, but how about the rest of us?

it seems to me the biggest fuel for baja vs. checkmate is called big red potion. to make such a rediculous statement about checkmate folding and people being out of work is just plain stupid and does not surprise me too much.

I don't want to see C-mate go under.....but don't just copy a Baja and call it a Mate. At least change the deck to have some Checkmate style and not a retro-nerf football look. Jaying up a Baja and painting Checkmate on the side is like running home to mamma when you don't know what to do. Doug is not using insight and creativity to improve/expand the brand. Instead he is just copying from the past. Just my .02.

Wildman is dealer, not a regular consumer. I believe that the boats he has bought are for resale, I don't think he plans on starting a "Checkmate Shrine" and time soon. There is a difference.

I suspect that if you started a thread called "Let's see the new private party Checkmate's 2009 and newer" it would be one of the shortest threads in recent times.

Some of you guys get WAY to emotional about this stuff.

One more thing i would like to add is that Smith also brought a fresh new look to these classic mates with some new interior as well as graphic options 3 years ago i was thinking of buying a different brand of boat not because of the quality but because of the old school graphics now i cant wait to get my new mate. They have the best of it all now you can get the bold new graphics or the old school which ever you prefer, that is great forward thinking, and will help the mates to be be around for years to come.
