Anybody have any experience? I searched and found some mixed opinions, etc... and would be grateful for anything anyone can add.

I'm talking about putting one on a diplomat i/o.

Thanks!

Do you have it already? They have been out of production for quite a while. I think the hard part is finding longer shift cables for it.

I just bought one with everything included. Figured I could sell it without losing much if anything if I don't like it...

The biggest head scratcher I've been having lately is what to do with props and gear ratios, etc... I've been running a 1.8 gear and using 27-29 pitch props, but did a couple more minor engine upgrades and am now hitting the 5600 rpm rev limiter running a labbed 14.5 / 28" mach 4 sterndriver. I think I'm going to drop to a 1.65 gear set and see if getting the prop up out of the water a bit doesn't pick up a little more speed. I've got a 1.5 ratio upper as well and a few props in the 21-26" range that might work, but might also be a too small (from playing with a v-6). Running with the propshaft 7 1/2 inches below the narrow pad has never helped on this boat I don't think... Since I'm throwing everything up in the air at this point anyhow, might as well ad another variable to play with, eh?

Sounds like you have a plan. Try one change at a time and keep notes. That way youre not all over the place. What worked-what didn't.

Agreed. I've run this boat enough now and am pretty comfortable with it at the speds I've been able to hit so far. plus I've got a bunch of people locally I can bug with questions, borrow props from, and so on...
