Yellowfiero's playmate resto!

So you gonna get that other FREE Enchanter? :poke:
$1200 for a trailer that is worth $400, I doubt it. I had the same trailer under my I/O and after new everything, I sold it for $500. I paid $1000 for my 79 enchanter with a running 200 johnson on it, complete (tho shot) interior. But yes I am looking for another mate to play with, IF the price is right and I do have access to a 200efi merc for pocket change!! But then again, I really don't need another boat;)

man, watching those vids really makes me want to get the boat out!!
Get on it Buss!!!:poke: I have to admit they are crap videos but then again, driving, throttling, taping, and watching what I am doing is no easy feat!!

Now I need to think how I am going to get a rooster tail out of it. the slightest amount of trim and she starts walking like a mo fo:rolleyes:;)

Brian, how far down is your drive height, it looks like a pretty deep X dimension for a little boat. I was noticing from the pics before you ran it. I would start raising the engine height, You must have to much lift and it's riding on the prop, not enough boat in the water when you trim so she chines.

You could probably raise it up to almost surface piercing while running just to the point where there is no slippage. Then you would get a roost from it too and more speed.
I could be wrong but by looking at it that's what I see.

im sure once you get the setup done and more seat time your probably get a knack for the way it handles and be able to air it WAY out with the trim and get your roost :surf:

The cavitation plate is 2" above the hull, making the prop shaft is 5 1/2" below the hull. I will try and raise it up another 1" and see how it rides. I am getting the hub kit today for the 21p prop I got here.

4-21-10,
21p "michigan wheel" aluminum prop test @ 5.5" below pad.
Hole shot sucked, top end sucked. Turned it @ 4800-5000rpm's & 47mph (gps) but it was very slow getting there. Very unhappy with the performance.

Today,
19p "merc" aluminum prop test @ 3" below pad.
2 men in the boat, we both are ~ 175lbs so results will vary.
Hole shot great, best yet. Turned it up to 5600rpm & 51mph (gps) with a quickness. Chine walk is a lot better but will still get hairy, don't know if its motor height or the extra 175# of weight. Exhaust is noticeably louder and sounds sexy (for an egg beater!) Hydro foil is out of water at speed, could trim to get about a 2' tall rooster tail before it started walking.

I want to try the 19p by myself and the 21p again at this motor height. from there, I will make a final choice on prop size. The mechanic for tradewinds marine was out on his boat with friends when I came out of the harbor. When I got back in they had just loaded up his boat and we sat there and talked for a few. They were all talking about how good the boat looked "when I was getting on it" and they said that "it sounded good screaming past them"!!! "The very rear of the hull and motor was the only thing in the water"! LOL

Man, sounds like a really entertaining boat! 51mph with two aboard is cookin in a 13ft boat, if you ask me... its gotta feel pretty damn fast, too.

You gonna play with engine heights some more? Whats is the max rpm range of that motor? Sounds like its a great setup for hardly any setup time!

Believe it or not, I was looking at 115-150 mercs on ebay yesterday:devil:.

I was hoping to hit near 60mph but don't think it will happen with this motor. It does run real good and unlike that baja scat cat I had, it drives itself. I can let go of all controls @ 50mph and it goes straight as an arrow. @ 50, it feels like your going mid 30mph. The boat is amazing on how it takes the speed compared to boats of the same size. Checkmate has built another amazing boat, its just a shame they don't still make them. I think its proven by the fact the molds are still being used today, 23+ years later.

I think if I go up any more, I will have to plug the top water intake holes. At speed with it trimmed up, it was still pissing like a race horse so I am not loosing pressure and at no time did the temp gauge go above 100*. I am not sure what WOT is on it, I will ask delta propeller next time I go down there. I am sure I will mess with it a little more but @ 50+mph, I am happy:thumb: Wildman did give me some info and a starting point for the setback and height.

BTW, that motor height change was very sweet and easy to do. Very happy with my fab work:banana:

Brian instead of plugging the top holes get you some water intake scoops. I had them on my Mercury mota, they work great.:bigthumb: They are called High Speed Water Pickup part #17280A2.

I NEED MORE POWER!
Got my bob's performance stuff today. BIG FOOT Nose Cone Kit, Engine Louver Kit, and other vital stuff to make her go fast. Also a big stainless 22p prop. I think with the added power from these parts and the nose cone water dynamics, I should be able to spin her just right:thumb:
