Trim Tab Sizing

Hi Guys,

I'm going to put lenco trim tabs on the new boat and I'm debating which size to get. It's a 23' boat so the recommended sizes are either 9" deep x 12" wide or 12x12. I could fit a 12x18 on the transom if needed (recommended for 26' and up).

I'm wondering what the pro's and con's are of a larger tab size. It would obviously have more effect at low speeds which would be good for my ~ 15 mph air-chair towing needs. When the tabs are all the way up are they in the water at all when you're on plane?

Any help is appreciated - thanks!

My Enforcer has the Bennett sport tabs (M120) 10"x12", the tabs in the up position are out of the water when on plane. The tabs work great when the lake gets rough or at low speeds. Here's mine :http://www.bennetttrimtabs.com/catalog.php?vID=78&catHome=1

I have 12x12 Lencos on my other, 22' boat and they work great for the knee and wakeboarders.

When installed properly, there is no drag when fully retracted.

Thanks for the info guys. I talked to Lenco tech. support today and the guy basically said for my needs (lowering planing speed), the largest that would fit would be OK. He said the only danger of "over tabbing" is if in rough water you really put the bow down and stick a wave - basically don't be a dumb-azz with them.

So I'm going to slap the 18 x 12's on the boat. I have the room on the transom and my swim platform sticks out well past a foot so the kids shouldn't catch themselves on 'em. Wow - THREE sq. feet of tab. That's a ton.

This should probably also let me run a 24p prop... until I get the IMCO's on anyhow.
