New stuff for your boat this season 3

WOW thats pretty impressive, i must be missing the setup on mine..

0.016% prop slip seems unattainable to me to me...

I got 5% on the prop calculator, assuming a 1.87 ratio and adding an inch to pitch assuming its cupped a bit (heard you should do that, not sure if its right), admittedly an idiot about this stuff though

hey mr buss i see penny pinching and saving up for something special then i see a cigarette logo in your posts is there a top gun in your future?

5% is still pretty efficient in my book, im sure anythings possible.

heres what i see even with makin it a 28....just sayin..

Hey Buss,

:poke:You need to multiply that slip number by 100.......it doesen't give slip as a percent, just the resulting decimal......so you need to multiply that....then you get 5%.:poke:

You probabbly should have read the additional info below the calculator like it says on top.......

Come on there smart guy........

ok i stand corrected!!

Sorry guys i still think 5 percent is a stretch but hey, i must need a better prop, im jealous.. what can i say.

you better watch it ron....remember whos gonna have to tow your a$s in after that motor comes apart again!! :poke:

for what its worth i punched my numbers in the merc one
pitch: 27
gear: 1.87
rpm: 6850
speed: 91
slip: 3%
that's nutz

Thanks for backing me up on this! I was just getting ready to throw you into this with your setup running the same prop. I can tell how limited the slip is by my fuel economy, cause it's outrageous as well, got right around 5mpg.

Got a couple of gauges, stereo, CCM reeds, and Bob's exhaust housing for Christmas so they all need to go on. Still debating on whether or not to do the exhaust housing and bump the compression up a little since I'm putting super in it anyways I might as well make use of the extra octane. Moved the battery over to the port side behind the oil tank to try to balance the boat better when I'm riding solo and put it on a new tray too. Got some not so fun stuff to do like replace the fuel line and bilge hose and tidy up the control cables between the splashwell and the motor but I am looking forward to my tax return so I can order a new set of buckets for the front and a couple of small interior pieces that are cracked a little. Gotta give the trailer some TLC too (rollers are all pretty much done so its bunk time) but that will have to wait until I can drop the boat in the lake for a day while I rip into the trailer.

got my hands on a cmc 5.5 jackplate for some trading. going to get it installed and have carbs rebuilt. hope i'm not wasting money on trying to get the trimate a little faster. 54 mph and it chines like crazy. prop is about 12 inches in the deep. Thinking jackplate will help. crossing fingers.

Starting over to...re-rigging the 253 with the procharger on my500HP with a carb....EFI gone....new complete fuel system and oil cooler/lines/etc...stay tuned film @ 11...

If things keep going the way they are, I'll be looking for a new left sided seat cover will soon! It won't have to all bright and shinny and new like the old one was. Just a nice dependable cover, one that won't split when there's a little pressure applied to it. ;)

Dammit.. disposing of the old seatcovers can get pricey. If you find the right new one, it virtually pays for itself;)
