Potential Checkmate owner

Yeah he's firm at 3500. Ill ask about the motor. He may have just been mistaken or someone told him it was a 95. I'm been guilty of misinformation myself.

"Boat comes with skis, one person towable, 3 person towable (Hot Dog), wakeboard, ski ropes, towable ropes, anchors w/ropes, fenders, everything you will need for a family weekend on the water."

there is also some value in all of these extras. how much value obviously depends on the brands and condition and if you have no use for them then make an offer less the extras. good luck

--spent some time on a three person towable (think is was called a rocket) as a kid and they were actually pretty fun :surf:

Now hes saying he is not going to have time to get it in the water and he already has someone that offered him full asking price and is very interested. "But no pressure, youre still first in line." If it were me i wouldnt be holding a boat for someone who wants to give me 400 dollars less than the guy standing in front of me with cash in his hand.

He doesnt have the title because he still owes money on the boat. WTH? How do you owe money on a boat this old thats worth less than 4k. Just isnt sitting right with me, and since its not local I cant just ride over there and verify things or look at things.

I think im going to pass on this one.... :(

Damn that sucks!!! Plenty of good starter mates out there. Just take your time and look around. I've sold three and looking at two more right now.:D

If he wants to sell it he will make time to put it in the water. I understand about keeping you first in line. Common courtesy if a deal has been made even if it is verbal, but letting you know about a better offer sounds like a pressure move. As for owing money on it, how long has he owned it. I had a small loan on my boat when I first got it. Felt good to get it paid off. All this might be why the boat didn't sell last summer.

I'd rather miss out on a great boat than be stuck with a 4000 dollar lawn ornament. It coukd have been the most solid 23 year old starliner out there, or the strings and transom could be hollow. Ill never know. Ill keep my eyes out for the next one. I really like that starrliner buut maybe ill save up a little more and find an open bow pulse.

Good move. You need to feel good about what you buy. Best not to buy one you're not sure about just to have a boat. I looked for about a year before I bought my current boat.

LMAO! Man now I remember why my x wife and I bought a brand new car when we were looking to buy used. I got fed up with sellers!

I asked my brother to text this guy to see if it was sold, just curious, cause the add is still up.

Yep, still for sale. After he told me that someone was coming to give him full asking price and he had three other people that were "very interested". He cited the last potential buyer had "money issues". Jesus, im standing here with cash in my hand and I cant get the time of day from any of these sellers.

I still want to at least look at this boat, but its going to be on my terms. I should start making these sellers bring the boats to me! lol.
