Checkmate identification help?

Juggernaut

New member
I'm looking at buying another checkmate. the seller says its 18 ft long, is an I/O mercruiser, and he calls it an enchanter. The enchanter is a 20' model though. What models were I/O 18 feet? 19 feet? Is there a page I can type the HIN into to search the model / options? Any help in identifying this would be greatly appreciated.

Open or Closed bow? Could be a Starfire or Starlet if 18'. I think the Senator was 19'. Go to the gallery section and check the brochure scans. Also posting a photo here would probably help.

They also made an Exciter IO that was an 18'er. Looked very much like a shorter Enchanter. Can also call the factory with the HIN and they will more than likely be able to help you out!

It is a closed bow. Do you have the number to call checkmate? I can't post pictures from my camera roll for some reason, but I can tell you the engine cover isn't raised like an exciter

Glad to see you joined.
Like I said on Facebook I'm still going with 87ish enchanter. I think the guy has the length wrong and doesn't know what he has.

I agree w- Keith.....Enchanter IO. The hatches on the Enchanter IOs are more curved where the Exciter IO hatches have a raised center section.

Make sure you check for rot. You can stick your hand down in the ski locker and feel/knock for soft core.

Glad to see you joined.

My money is on keith.
Whatever he says x2.
Doesn't mean he can't be wrong.
I'm just betting he's not. Because (shhsss.. don't ever tell him this but.....
oh, never mind. I'll tell him in person.)
Keith, how come you're so edumacated on Checks?:rof::devil:

Keith funny story, I've had an account here since 06. I used to be on this page a lot but haven't in the past 5 years or so. Don't know why my post counter reset, I'm just amazed I remembered my password. Anyways it's definately not an exciter, Fairly confident it's an enchanter. Good advice on feelin the core thru the ski well, I was definately going to check the floors transom and stringers out. The engine doesn't worry me, it's a small block chevy, they're cheap. Plus I've got a good block waiting to be assembled in my garage. Worst case scenario I'll yank the engine out of my truck and drop it in lol. Wasn't really looking for a 20' but I need to upgrade from my '73 mx15, it's just too small.

Keith, I care for you fondly as well. (no sarcastic emoticon here-really)
As you seem to have already determined, what I didn't say was that I implicitly believe most everything you say on this site because "This is his Freaking life."
I know that you earn a living.
How do you manage to have all that xtra psychic thrust to be so on top of our (admittedly important) hobby.
And.. you managed to move to where you are.
MOFO!
(This is my jealousy talking)
