I'm really geeked!!

Pulled my new (to me) 2000 Checkmate Persuader 218br home Sunday from Ohio.

Took me 5 1/2 hours one way to get there, boat had some issues but the seller was ready to sell.
Boat has the 350 mag, bravo out drive, trim tabs, Captains Call exhaust and a Bimini.

Seller wanted $10,000 (which I thought was a good price to start with) and I was able to get it for $7,500.

What a great deal on a great looking boat! I drove 7 hours each way to get my CM, but I as soon as I started making it all shiny & clean and began using it, I forgot all about how far I had to drive to get it. Congrats!

Thanks everyone! There is so much junk and dishonest people out there it was a pretty frustrating search. Right when I gave up, this deal just sort of fell into my lap.

Nice Looking Boat!!! What a great price...........What are the issues??:yell:

Nothing too major.....speedometer doesn't work, depth sounder is malfunctioning, trim tabs controls are installed backward, dirty vinyl, a few hull blemishes and maybe an issue with the power steering.
Seems as if the boat wants to wander more then I think it should at idle speed. The shift shaft and gimble ring were repaired 5 years ago and that seems nice and tight. I've never had power steering so I'm wondering if it needs to be bled or maybe the pump is bad.

Nice color combination!!

Photos don't do this graphics package justice. The yellow just pops and looks real nice in person.
Great looking boat you have by the way!

I need to add a cockpit cover and I like how yours extends over the sundeck.

Already forgotten how long of a day it was. I took a buddy with me whom I haven't seen in a while so it was a great trip to catch up and plan.

Thats nothing too bad. Certainly worth the price.

My 219 Persuader wanders at idle speed too (454/Bravo 1). Nature of the beast. And probably attributes of a hull designed to 'go fast'. The waggle gets worse the higher you need to trim/tilt the drive (shallow water) at idle speed. Get enough seat time, and you'll be able to anticipate the waggle without over correcting and making it worse....

Thanks! That makes me feel better. The Persuader is so much different then my Diplomat, in regards to handling.

I think all I/O's tend to "walk or "waggle" while they are idling. Once you get used to it its fine. Most of the time you don't even have to correct it as it will bring itself back. I know my Dad's Baja walks back and forth a lot more than my 253.
