    '81 Predictor F/S

Had a guy come by today who was all set to buy it. Said he had the cash in the truck and everything. Then he called his buddy and was guiding him through the Blue Book process.... hah! Sale once again lost to unrealistic KBB figures. Same way with Mustangs these days. An '87 fox books for...

    '81 Predictor F/S

Selling a boat is terrible. I'm honest with people, and most used boat sellers lie out the behind. And they also don't understand that a non-leaking, good running Checkmate is worth more than blue book ($930 for a predictor with no options, hah!)

    '81 Predictor F/S

Haha. I'm a competitive person is some aspects of life. And since I can't afford to have the nicest or fastest boat on the lake, I'll stick to what I'm good at ;) I think it's going to be hard to sell since money is getting tight for everyone, not just me. If the boat got better MPG than the...

    '81 Predictor F/S

Well, I've been waiting to hear about this job for too long and funds are starting to run low :( I've also gotten into more competitive pistol shooting and supporting shotgunning AND IDPA competition has gotten pricey. The first thing to go is the boat. Craigslist Ad...

    Outboard Advice

A compression gauge is a handy little tool to have. Sounds like he had a marina do all the work and the carbs were one of their little 'extra' charges that every shop in the world tries to get away with these days.

    rock-n-roll

LOL, so you were going to pass a 'bad boat' onto the members here? There should be lots of carb'd 4.3 marine motors on ebay.

    Merc 115 won't start

News from the front lines: Success! She fired up, idled, and pissed a solid stream, and all seems to be well. Just a quick question, what's a normal idle range for the 115 tower-o-power?

    Merc 115 won't start

It still could very well have electrical issues. If this doesn't remedy the problem, I'll give your method a shot. Thanks!

    Merc 115 won't start

Ok, well I think I solved my own little problem. The starter spun itself apart! The spring I found goes on top of the starter gear to force it down once the power to the starter is removed. I know this since I also found the cap that holds the spring in place, but the nut is MIA. I'll go...

    Merc 115 won't start

Well, I tripped the kill switch while getting compression readings. It still doesn't explain the lack of flywheel/assembly movement. I think the battery is just fine. It read fully charged (12-13 amp/volt, I forget) and it runs the trim just fine. The starter doesn't seem to ever 'wear' and...
