    1976 Checkmate Factory 455 jetboat

Just to let you know, my Avatar pic is the motor that's in it while on test stand. I have tried to find another one just like mine and I haven't found any at all. They are either 18', 20' 21', but no 19' with the factory 455 w/ Jacuzzi. All I have seen are old advertisements that show it with...

    1976 Checkmate Factory 455 jetboat

It's been so long that I've been on here I forgot how to post pics. Besides, like I said "It's identical to mine, same color scheme, only difference is seat color and mine has thru hull exhaust instead of headers.

    1976 Checkmate Factory 455 jetboat

Own one Yes, It's called a Jetmate. Mine is a 1976 Checkmate Jetmate, with 455 Olds/Ratrod engine pushing close to 400 HP. It is identical to the one in the picture, except for the headers and seat color.

What motor oil do you use?

Then which one? O.K. I have read all the threads on motor oil, but I didn't find one about Pennzoil.:( Is it not do good for marine engines? I have run Pennzoil 10W40 & 20W50 in my truck for years with no problems, so what about in a '71 455 Olds engine? Thanks

    Checkmate water hoses

I'm getting close to putting my engine back in. My question is, the water hoses on it are 1/2" I.D. , and I'm having a heck of a time getting the hoses to fit over the fittings. Can I change the hoses to 3/4" I.D. and will this hurt the water flow or help? Big Red, I know you use to have one...

Tried to post in ebay listings but it said no

Just to throw in my 2 cents. My Jetmate is 19 ft, with 455 olds and with a bad engine in it, I got between 55-60 mph before it threw a rod on the last run. I have another 455 olds I'm about to put back in it with 3??+ HP, so since it's shorter and lower we'll have to see what it runs. But that...

    OIL PANS - 455

Hi Jet, Yea, I have. I have my new engine together and have had it running a coouple of times for just a few seconds. I have it set up on a test stand a friend of mine made for me, he also made some headers for it. I still have to finish hooking up the radiator and water pump pulley which I hope...

    GASKETS

Intentions are; Keep this engine, rebuild it, have it for a back up engine when the one I just got quits on me. Having a friend in a speed/machine shop (also owns local Dragstrip) to bore it and do the head work on it. My measuring is accurate, I own a small engine repair shop, a little bit of...

    OIL PANS - 455

Thanks Jetmate, Mine is a Jacuzzi with a "B" impeller. I'm putting another engine in mine (1971) instead of the old one (1972), but I'm going to rebuild the old one to marine specs. This other one I have is suppose to have a Jetboat cam (Crane Cam)in it. I;m having to put some of the parts off...

    OIL PANS - 455

Thanks Old Navy, The problem with building a Chevy is I would have to completely change over everything, wiring, mounts, ETC and probably the jet pump housing (bell housing) and I have been told by several people it would cost me more to do that than to just rebuild what I have because I would...

    OIL PANS - 455

I've pulled my engine out of my Jetmate to rebuild it or replace it. I'am buying another engine and want to know about the oil pans. I'm not sure that the engine I have in the boat is original or not, was told when I got the boat that the previous owner use to build racecars. I've heard that the...
