Please give feedback on Checkmate Pacifica 198

My Repo Experience... My first boat was a beautiful 22' Stingray small block, bought it at a repo auction for 7500. After 2 years I had another 5000 in it for engine rebuild (cracked a piston and ruined the head) and the upper gear housing was rebuilt on the OMC outdrive. I sold it after that...

    Need opinions please.

Never had a fuel issue... I have one and I have never had a fuel issue, mine is mounted inside the cowl and came with the boat. There is a sensor at the bottom that alerts when there is water in the fuel. I assumed that all newer/fuel injected outboards had them.

    Etiquette with invited guests?

I boat to relax... I would never bring my dog out on my boat, she is as graceful as a 60lb sack of coal. I can't even imagine getting her back in the boat on the water, we would all end up pissed off and angry. My wife is nuts about the dog and she has never asked to bring her, 22 years and...

    wood on Engine hatch?

Stainless Staples... I was working a small project in the garage on Saturday and saw a box of stainless steel staples that I had left over from a sun pad repair on a boat from years ago. I used PT plywood and copied the original as my template, I used the stainless staples for my staple gun as...

    Removing Old Graphics

Heat Gun & Credit Card... I use a heat gun on low to get them warmed up and then use the edge of a credit card to get them started. If you work slowly and peel in the right directions you can usually get them off in one pull. Alcohol has never worked well to melt the adhesive, use "Goo Gone"...

Smooth Day on Lake Murray, S.C.

Love the pics... Awesome shot from the bow :thumb:, I love the shape of the trimate hull from the front and your black/blue color scheme looks great. I was in Columbia in August for 3 weeks of work and heard folks talk about lake Murray, it looks nice from your photos. Enjoy

Sea Doo's - Love them or hate them??

PWC's are a fact of life... I give a more critical eye to PWC's when I am out than other boats; they are harder to see, accelerate & turn quicker and are usually operated by someone that takes more risks than me. I would love to have one but my conscience always gets the better of me...

    MOOD LIGHTS

Try Ebay...really I used the home depot incandescant rope lights in my home and they kept burning out. I went looking for LED rope lights and found them on ebay in various lengths and colors. They are more expensive than the incandescent bulbs but I hope they last alot longer, I couldn't get...

How much does a mobile repair cost? I'll tell you.

Ditto to Big Red... Whenever I trailer and I stop for a break or fuel I walk back to the trailer and touch both the tires and the hubs. As my trailer gets older it will sling a very small bit of grease on the wheels and that always makes me wonder. I removed my wheels and checked the...

    186 Pulse Top Speed

200 would be optimal... Yup, if I ever re-rig the boat I would go with a 200. The 150 is nice and I can load it up with 3 people in the cockpit and 2 people on a tube and still get it done but it sure seems to work alot harder with the 150.

    Check Cover

Trailerable Boat Cover I got mine at boatcoversdirect.com, I wish I could tell you it was inexpensive AND good but I can just say it is a good trailerable cover. Mine was almost $400 if I remember correctly, I just went to the site and selected Checkmate & Exciter and they look like $200-300...

    186 Pulse Top Speed

Yup...60 I have a Pulse 186 with a 150efi, I had a 22 laserII that was nice for speed but aweful for skiing/tubing, the laserII would get up to low 60's. I sold the laserII and got a trophy plus 23, better for skiing/tubing but a tick slower on the top end.

    Prepurchase ?s

What it's worth ??? Like most older things, the value or worth only matters to 2 people, the seller and the buyer. It's certainly not worth much to the seller here in a "need paint" and "need motor" condition and the seller doesn't have many choices, I have seen the boat on the internet for at...
