    Should i buy this Starflight?

As long as the motor checks out good, you have a deal for under 4k. I paid 3k for my 86 Starflite and I had to do the floor replacement, new carpet, new checkmate interior, replace the tilt unit, remove bottom paint, buff, etc. etc.. I am almost done, just waiting for Mike @ Checkmate to send...

Black Max 200 Oil block off kit (where??)

I'll check those sources thanks. I remember that plastic gear on my 302 1969 Mustang. The timing chain hopped a couple of teeth and that was it. I wound up having to tear the engine apart in the parking lot of Morrisville State University in freezing temperatures. The replacement gear was steel...

Black Max 200 Oil block off kit (where??)

Does anyone know of someplace else to purchase an oil block off kit for a Merc 200 besides Rick Racers? I was ready to buy one from them, and now the website comes up as "Suspended" Thanks JK

Oil injection VS pre-mix ( pros & cons)

I am getting ready to do the same to my '86 Black Max 200. I found this website on another thread. Give them a call, I'm sure they have a kit for your motor. cheers JK http://www.rickracers.com/product_info.php?products_id=3536

A day on the Lake in April

Did you paint the bottom of your starflite black? I have one that is a white hull with red and black stripes, the problem is that the previous owner had black bottom paint on it since he left it in the water. I am removing as much as possible with peel away and sanding, but I won't be able to...

    Corvette for Pulsare??

If you are anything like me, you would rather be on the water with your free time than on the road where I spend 2.5 hours a day getting to and from work! Much nicer people on the water as well! Think hard. JK

What's the trailer weight of an 87 Starflite with a 200 merc?

I have an 86 Starflite witha 200 merc. The boat weighs approx 1400-1500 lbs. and the motor is about 450. Total is about 200lbs. I think you should be OK. JK

    Black Max 200 help !

Thanks, I know someone with that type of equip if I find I need it further. The design of the swivel bracket made it very convienent to fill the area around the top of the shaft with penetrating oil. I just blocked off the hole where the trim indicator wire goes through with the tip of an old...

    Black Max 200 help !

well thank God for chemicals! I tried some PB Blaster in the swivel before trying to remove it and it worked. I figured out that it was only the top bushing that was tight because grease was oozing very well out the bottom. After a day of leaving the Blaster soak in I soaked it with a slicone...

Also, does anyone know of a good way to pump in the penetrating oil through the grease zerts? JK

    Black Max 200 help !

Thanks Mark, When I got home last night I realized that the bottom bolts would not allow me to get the bracket off without removing the powerhead, bad engineering in my opinion. If they were mounted the opposite way as you suggest, it would be much easier. This bracket is not siezed but...

    Black Max 200 help !

I have a manual for this engine and have ripped plenty of other stuff like it down before. I think I might be able to remove the gear housing and then take the bottom yoke off the tube and then slide (slide, yeah right!) the bracket off. I was hoping I could find someone who had done this...
