    "Wanted" 2 Bucket Seats-decent condition????

I just took two out of my 88 senator. They are in nice condition, white with 2 red and one black stipe on them. If you are interested I`ll take $200 and shipping for them and the posts, one has a newer slide on it.

Heads, cam, 350 wont power pass 4300 rpm

I like reading your posts MK, you seem to do your homework!

Heads, cam, 350 wont power pass 4300 rpm

I dont think 30 degrees total advance is enough timing. with that big of a cam your static compression is lower than you think. I`d run 34 degrees total advance and if you have a decent exhaust on it it should make the #s you are expecting. As you are increasing timing keep checking your plugs...

HOW FAST IS YOUR CHECKMATE? EVERYONE!

I finally got a gps reading a couple weeks ago on my `88 senator with a 598 and bravo xz and 2" shorty, 89.6. I have more power, still dialing in the hull. It took some work to get over 80.(in some kind of control anyways) The 18" long trim tabs were the real improvement, once I got the stops...

    25p prop on a senator

Oh, I also agree with the 3 blade prop sugestion. There is 33% more drag spinning that extra blade through the water, on a bigger boat with more hull drag it is worth it to reduce slip, but my Senator didnt like the extra blade either.

    25p prop on a senator

Thats exactly what I`ve found with my `88 Senator, what Mr Buss says. I was running a 454 with a mild cam and Imco headers and with a 23" 3 blade prop repitched to a 25 with extra cup in it I could get 69 to 70 out of it, but it would hit the rev limiter in good air. I also run an XZ drive with...

HOW FAST IS YOUR CHECKMATE? EVERYONE!

once in a while when the wind kicks up we get 1-2`s. it likes them, just skimmping the top. what it dont like is passing other boats and catching the waves sideways. I`ve figured that out by trimming down and cornering them. still no cig top gun, but I havent rolled it yet! (yes, I wear my...

HOW FAST IS YOUR CHECKMATE? EVERYONE!

I appreciate your responce. I boat on the rivers around Pittsburgh... they are usually pretty calm, and I know enough to back off when the waves are too much. as long as I hit them fairly straight on its fine. it does kind of ride "nose up" but handles really well. I`m sure the shorty with a...

HOW FAST IS YOUR CHECKMATE? EVERYONE!

88 senator BBC I ran on 70 gps last summer, stock 330 bbc with an xz drive and imco shorty with a 23 pitch 3 blade repitched to 25, + imco powerflow headers. I am so impressed with how well the boat handles (until I way overtrim it) even in choppy water. So here is where I need some...

    Senator engine swap?

I`m almost done with my 598 to replace the "peanut headed" 454 in my `88 Senator. I can get 71+ on gps with the old motor, the new one should be interesting. From what everyone says I should be setting my rev chip at about 3600 rpm! I`ll let ya know what happens! I have already put in an all...

    the senator is over 70!!

Small Blocks are great.... check around the used NASCAR stuff. You could build a 500 hp 355 that will live forever at 5500 6000 rpm for what I have in my crank! There are places in the Carolinas with warehouses full of parts. Just dont use their camshafts, get a Crower marine cam. The car ones...

    the senator is over 70!!

Nice!!! I have my Senator running about 69 on gps with a stock peanut headed 454 with headers and a 2' shorty. Like you, cant wait to get the new engine in. (598 with dart 360`s!) Hope we cross paths someday, your boat looks good. Not too many Senators around here. I cant wait to see how much...

Hey Skater, We are all on the Allegheny, the guys I hang with are right above lock 3. There arent too many cats on that river, are you the one up around Brady? Also, do you know of any 27' to 30' cats for sale without power? My buddy with the Cigs is looking for one. Sorry about thursday...

    How fast is too fast?

The steering is already being worked out, the gimbal was bad when I got it. I think I will be safe with an external cyl and the stock cable for now. Also, the Bravo is going to have to live for now.... I know, no holeshots! The block I have is a Merlin, so it`s a little more weight.... but...
