    Skegs

EZ Thank you for your offer. However, the boat is currently at another boat shop, and I will have them do the work since the boat is already there. I do appreciate the offer.

    Skegs

I am not defending him by any means and I appreciate your honesty. I was, I guess a little taken back by the negative feedback I received on the job he did. I certainly do not have the ability to critique his work, as I am not knowledgable about the cosmetics or mechanics of the boat. I am...

    Skegs

Thanks Karzrus There was some minor chipping on the skeg and I believe that my mechanic was doing what he thought was best to repair the minor damage and get me back out on the water. He is a very reputable mechanic, so I am a bit surprised to hear these negative comments.... So I assume that...

    Skegs

Anyone know if the skeg guard will have an effect on my speed? If so, what can I have done to fix the problem? Thank you for any help.

    Skegs

Thanks for the response. The skeg is the rutter looking thing at the end of the lower unit. Mine was chipped so my mechanic repaired it with what he said was fiberglass. When I looked at it when I pulled my boat and I actually took pictures of it the fiberglass was separating.

    Skegs

I noticed last fall when I put my boat in storage that the skeg was splitting from the bottom all the way up. I had it patched up mid season with some fiberglass, but it looks like I may need a new one. For performance purposes, are there any skegs that may be better then a generic one? Also...

    Intake & Carb replacement

Any chance you bought the boat off of an add from Craigs List and the boat was docked at Lake Hopatcong? I looked at that boat before I bought my Senator....

    Intake & Carb replacement

I have an Edelbrock 750 that has maybe 5-7 hours on it that I can sell you. Since I am replacing my engine and going MPI, I need to sell this since it is now a waste. Let me know if you have any interest.

Replacing 357 Carb with 383 MPI

Thanks YF I can't wait to get rid of the 357. Those engines are haunted. Had the carb replaced 3 times, new ignition and starter put in. Tons of water testing and time out of the water. Plus ton of $$$$$ spent on all of it. 2 engines in two years. If I knew of all the problems a carb engine can...

Replacing 357 Carb with 383 MPI

There were no mods done to the engine. I had the entire floor and stringers replaced the winter I put the 357 in so maybe it took out a ton of weight. I went up 65 hp from the 350 to 357. So I will be gaining an additional 25 hp going to the 383. Sorry for the confusion. I know less then...

Replacing 357 Carb with 383 MPI

I am replacing my 357 mag carb to a 383 mag mpi in my 88 Senator. I was going about 72-73mph with the 357, anyone know what I could expect with the 383? I would think maybe 1 or 2 mph. Will there be a significant difference in fuel economy? Nothing but problems with the 357 I got put in a...

    Winter plans 2010/2011

The 357 was removed by Merc this fall and a 383 MPI will be put in this spring. Looking forward to getting rid of the carb from hell 357 and replacing with the fuel injected 383 in my Senator. Maybe get an extra 1 or 2 mph out of it also.

    Remanufactured Engine Shops

I have an 88 Senator. I went from a stock 350 to a remanufactured 357 mag and gained over 12 mph, going from around 60-62 mph to 72-74 mph. All my work is through Lakeside Restorations and I have had nothing but great results.

    90 senator/ what prop

I have an 88 Senator. Before I upgraded my engine, I ran a 19 on the stock 350 and it ran very well for me.
