100+MPH 21' Mod-V w/twin mod. 2.5L & CLE's...SELL or TRADE?

OK... wife is getting a little "concerned" with me and this 100+MPH water rocket I'm playing with...wants me to get a Checkmate BOW RIDER!!!

It's a 1990 SONIC 21'... boat was cutom built by JR Custom Marine and was factory rigged with twin Merc's. This boat is really trick...has a unique Mod-V hull design with mini-tunnels as lifting strakes and has a nice 12" wide pad running down the last 6' of the center. It also has the cool left-hand steering with center councel with the "airplane cockpit full of gauges", and the twin zero-effort style contols for both the motors in it...YES...it looks like this boat means business!!!

Motors are 1992-94 style 2.5L's with CLE counter-rotating lower units...Both motors are being freshened up and modified...(pre-mix, tuners, milled heads, reeds, velocity stacks, solid mounts, relieved center section, dry-stacked, ported, etc.)...they should pull around 245hp each @ 6500-7000rpm on premium 92 unleaded...(thats 490HP on a 21' boat weighing under 2000lbs water-ready)!!! Boat should run 100+ with the new Spenelli 30p clevers and some dial-in time...

Also has a matching 1990 Myco tandom axle trailer custom built for the boat...

Seriously BAD-A$$ water-toy!!! I will sell complete turn-key package or without the motors... and I will consider a TRADE for a clean 21'-23' Checkmate open bow!!! Jim

SOUNDS LIKE AN ORIGINAL JAY ROSS BOAT. JAY WAS A GREAT GUY AND A GREAT DESIGNER. IT'S TOO BAD THAT HE IS NO LONGER ASSOCIATED WITH SONIC.

Whats the difference,post a Sonic for sale without a picture on a Checkmate site or with a picture on a Checkmate site?This site is for PEOPLE who like checkmates.I dont see why it would hurt if you posted an ad of a b*stard boat you bought out of ignorance.You still love Checkmates,right?
 
No problem... I'm hoping to finish up the motors and have it in the water by Memorial weekend. I'll send Chris a photo when I get it back together... It's his sight, I'll let him call the shots on posting it or not. YES, this is a killer "HOT BOAT", but I still want a Checkmate bowrider!

I just can't do the "all red" again. I sold my Warlock offshore last fall that was RED with black & gray stripes... too HOT, and too much maintainance!!! Kips boat is a good deal, but by the time I get a custom trailer, cover, and set it up with a 300X......$35000+ and I don't get my color choice???

Jupiter...Your NUTS!!! Having a black boat in that Florida sun is insain...how do you keep it from fade??? My last boat was red & Black and horrible to keep up! All black...sweet looking clean & shinney, but not for me (I have not desire to be a fried egg)!!!

175checkmate... Too small...I need a 21' open bow for the family! Get that thing together...boating season's here!!!

This Sonic is also simi-apart right now... I'm finishing up the motor builds (always more power)! Just got my new props...($$$$ when you have to buy two custom stainless)...twins are why cool except on the wallet and at the gas pump!!!

Add up what the parts alone are worth and this is a steal of a deal!!! Boat is very solid but could use some minor detailing TLC to make it "mint"... the longer I have it, the nicer it gets (but the price will go UP depending on time and money I invest). This boats probably worth $17,000+ detailed and dialed in. Ya gotta see it to believe it! Sorry, no test "PILOTS"...

RARE BOAT and you can be the envy at the lake this summer... Yes... this things a mega ATTENTION GETTER for a SPEED FREAK (like me)!

AS FAR AS A BLACK BOAT IN FLORIDA, I'M FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO OWN A 2 CAR GARAGE WHERE MY PULSARE STAYS IN THE SHADE WHEN NOT BEING USED. AT A DIAGONAL I HAVE JUST ENOUGH ROOM (WITH ABOUT 6" TO SPARE) TO CLOSE MY GARAGE DOOR. I GUESS I'LL HAVE TO ADD MORE SETBACK!!!
