16' 6" enticer

I just bought a 16'6" 1981 enticer in excelent
condition with a 1987 150 Evinrude for 2500.00.
Would some one please give me a few tips on this hull and what I can do with it, or did I get ripped. The boat is very fast {72mph} and is slightly unstable at that speed. It has a adjustable jackplate on it and if I took that off, or lowered it would I regaian some control. Please send comments or advice to my e-mail and the fourum. JP

Yep, we need more details. Something as simple as a prop change could help things out a bit.

I am not sure what pitch the prop is on the boat right now but will find out within the week. Hey Pitbull you probably do know me......Whats your name????

Pitbull when you say at speed what do you mean. At 70mph the boat chimwalks to the point that you have to back off the throtle or your history. I just need a bit more control. {and more speed}

Had the same trouble with mine. Changed to a 25P laser 2 and boat runs like a dream.

Chine walking is also caused by a motor being too deep or loose steering. You can also learn how to drive through chine walking

Pat Allbritton Jr. I'm married to Charles Downing's sister Carrie. And the point of instability is what i meant.

Pickett, just talked to afriend who told me you bought Cheshires boat. Thats a nice ride you might want to check the motor pivot. The last time i was in that boat the pivot was kind of sloppy and causing it to porpoise.If it has gotten worse the motor may be moving slightly with torque causing the chinewalk. But thats a pretty boat and shouldnt take much to get it to stand tall.

Pat, The transom was almost to the point of
being torqued of by the motor, so I am removing the jackplate and doing the small maintaince that the boat needs before I hit the
water. Call me at 867 1537 JP
