1973 V-mate project

Hey Chuck, thanks for the reply. Yes this is the same hull, what great pictures. Cool seeing the old cars towing these boats around back then. Thanks again

Rob

I have had quite a few boats over the years and this arguably is my favorite because it will handle all of the horsepower you can put on it, it's small light and very stable. As I said my son has a 78 currently, and when he brings it out to play, people are blow away with the ride, performance and handling, anyway good luck and keep us posted on the resto.

Inked, sanded and primed with 545!

Replaced water pump on XR6, got the gear lube changed. Anyone have thoughts on props for this project? Boat should weigh right around 600-650lbs dry. Adjustable Jackplate with 4inch setback.

Top deck complete. Happy with the way it turned out. Will get the hull into shop next week and get things rolling on that.

Put down some biaxial mat on the transom. West system cabosil between hull and new transom. Used screws throughout transom to draw wood to original transom glass.

As my dad stated I have a 78 with a 150 Promax... My favorite prop is a 26p Small Ear Mercury Chopper, I run a 10" CMC Manual Jackplate and a Bob's Noseconed Lower so I have it jacked up pretty high. With the xr6 and a standard case I would think you should be able to spin a 23-24p and I would look for a Mercury Tempest or Tempest Plus to start with.

Threw down some Awegrip on the hull sides, excited to get the halves together and finish up this project. Feels like spring is going to be early this year. 60 degrees this weekend in West MI. BING IT!!
