1974 MX-13 w/ 65 Johnson

I am considering selling my MX-13 which is mostly original and in great shape to the right owner. I even have the original trailer.

The boat runs great and we've had many good times in it. Its just to cramp with 2 people and our 2 dogs.

If you are seriously interested in the boat, please send a message and we chat more about it.

Location: Asheville, NC and would be willing to deliver/meet somewhere in the middle.

Price is TBD...need to do more research on what it might be worth as is.

I will try to post pics this weekend as its under dual covers now.

Here are the links to a few pictures when I first got the boat. If the weather is nice this weekend I will try and take a few more closeups of the boat.

I have rebuilit the floor in the back of the boat and I put all new carpet in the boat last summer. I also rebuilt the carbs on it as well.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Regarding the price...make me an offer I can't refuse.

Thanks

I should also mention that the boat is pretty much all orginal. It was very well maintained by my uncle who had it for most of the time its existed. The transom is solid. I do have mulitple props.

Last time I checked with just me in the boat, and a gallon of fuel it did low 40's..no trim tabs, to trim on the motor. On 6 gallons of fuel it will run over 2 hours doing mid 30's.

It does have a new battery, all lights work and I re-wired everything with a custom fuse block. As far as I know the seats are the originals, though I don't have the rear bench seat any more.

Looks very nice! The first boat I ever owned was a blue metalflake mx16. Could you try and get some pics if the seats, bilge area and transom please.

More photos

I pulled the covers off today since it was so nice and took a few more photos of the transom and seats.

Let me know if you want to see any thing in particular.

I should also note that its not a 74, but rather a 73.

The boat is solid and can be run as is. Of course everything this old could use some work, but definitely not mandatory. This would make a great boat for a couple of teenage kids.

How much for the boat only?

I don't know that it would be much less, i mean jeez... what's the market for an old 65 johnson now-a-days? Actually, the motor is fitting for a boat like that, they go well together. OTOH, an old tower of power 150 would make that boat very interesting :thumb:

I would only consider selling the whole package.

Boat, motor, and tilt trailer.

$1500 would seem like a fair offer, and I would deliver to a reasonable distance or at least meet 1/2 way.

The boat is still very strong. Sure it could be a project, or just use it. The boat will do the low 40's and seems to get really good milage. I cruised Lake Norris one weekend doing mid 30's for 3 hours on less than 10 gallons of fuel.

As for the condition, the only thing that needs some attention, but no means mandatory are the seats and it seems to be cosmetic only.

mx13

not real familiar to these, but maybe someone can chime in.....does this hull have a pad bottom? like a hydrostream voodoo??? those boats can run close to 70 with a yamaha 90.....didn't know how big engines people put on these and if they had a pad bottom to help get more speed. thanks

Not really sure if it is a true pad, but the keel is flat back there.

I ran mine with a 1990 70hp Johnson and it hit 60mph. A bit squirely, but I put the factory trim tabs back on and it calmed right down.

I always wanted to put a 90hp Yamaha or Johnson on the back. That would have been the perfect set up.
