For Sale is a 1983 Checkmate Exciter closed bow project boat.
I have too many projects and due to other circumstances, I need to give this one up. The boat has had a lot of work completed on buffing out the hull, which is a beautiful Black Metalflake, but needs to be finished. The underside and lower sides have been completely wet sanded and buffed to a nice shine, except a couple of areas on the pad where the boat was resting while buffing the lower underside. This boat has a pad for high speed stability and was originally rigged with a 200 Merc, running about 70 according to the previous owner. Some of the topside areas buffed out, but needs to be wet sanded and re-cleared to match the shine of the lower and underside areas. The boat has had some damage to the port and stbd rub rail side areas, possibly due to some dock post rubbing and hitting the boat. It has been repaired once by someone else, but needs to be redone and completed. It is not major work. Many pictures have been posted with descriptions on the links below.

I am asking $800 FIRM for the project as it sits. You don’t see many black metalflake boats any more, but really need to move on to finish other projects. I am considering splitting up all the items (Galvanized trailer, Merc rigging controls, Dual Cable Steering, Checkmate Ladder, Top rail and rub rail on hull, windshield, steering wheel, gages, Original Exciter Emblems, Gas Tank, Trim Pump and Trim Unit) and sell them on Ebay, but would like to see someone who is interested in the project take the entire package. You Dont see many Exciters on the water and I think this boat, with its Black Metallic finish, is a stand-out project. The boat is located in Summerville, SC. I feel the trailer, tires, and bearing are in good shape to take any trip.
