1983 Entertainer OB

New member just starting would like any pics or info on 1983 Entertainer OB. I will be gutting and replacing entire interior, knocking down the clearcoat and re clearing it. Misc chrome will be replaced. Any help appreciated!!

If you go to the "Member Introductions" forum, and scroll through the second page, you will see a thread titled "try try again ..." where I posted pictures of my 80 Entertainer and it is still there. I had to have the seats replaced, and the gel coat resprayed, and I recarpeted it as well. I really can't think of much in the way of "problems" I ran into other than some tasks just being more of a pain than others, but overall it came out pretty good. Reclearcoating the gunnwale made the most significant difference ... it brought the original shine back that I thought was gone forever (save having the whole boat repainted). I did have it rewired and had some significant engine work done, but mine's an I/O so I can't help much with the Outboard portion.

1983 Entertainer outboard

I got both of your replies-great looking boat Jamey- thanks!!! Mine is exactly the same color combo and looks identical other than the I/O. You have given me inspiration and the pics are great!! If you run across any other pics of yours or any other entertainer that I can reference, please send them my way. It looks like I might be able to get away with re-clearing mine- we will see. I also need to decide on color palate for the interior seeing as how it truly needs gutting- sat outside way too long. I like the way yours looks a lot! As odd as it sounds I have a 1983 Johnson 140, which some may chastise but only has break in hours on it to put on the transom! Other than being white and orange (will probably spray and stripe it) it is a great running engine, unbelievabley smooth and quiet- I dynamatted the cowling. Should push it along pretty well, we shall see. I have been looking for a transom to hang this motor on for a while- I think it will be huge fun. Anyway- thanks again for sharing!! Hopefully I can post some pics and progress reports in the near future!!

ENTERTAINER

I just built a interior for a Entertainer not long ago. Good luck on restoreing your boat Alan the wood guy Checkmate Boats

I had mine sprayed with 6 coats of clear. So far so good, but I guess the true test will come with how it holds up over time.

As for your interior, we had replaced the interior in this boat back around 1987 with new upholstery from Checkmate. Since it had the tonneau cover over the bow all those years it sat up, the front interior still looked like new. The rear side panels, the rear bench seat, the cup holders and the driver and passenger seats all needed some work. I was able to replace the wood in the seats of the driver and passenger seats, and they are still fine. The side panels, rear bench and cup holders were pretty much shot, but when I took it to an upholstery shop we couldn't match the Blue and Gray stripes exactly, so he unstitched the original stripes and resewed them in with new material. He also remade the side panels and bench seat and cup holders for me with new wood, and then I bought some extra material from him and remade the hood panels myself. All in all I wound up paying him between $1,000 and $1,200 for the work he did.

Not sure what we are going to use yet to clear it, going to see how far we have to knock it down first. Doing it with my brother- he is the painter. Probably be a few weeks before we get into it.
