" For Sale" 1984 Convincor Twin Yamaha 220

Had unexpected back surgery this winter, so would like to see if anyone is interested in picking up this project, and finishing it off.

From what I learned, boat was a demo boat for Inland Marine in RI back in 84-86. Inland was one of the first Yamaha dealers, so they hung a pair of the biggest Yamis available, and used it as their demo/show boat

I spent last season getting it cleaned up, buffed, added counter rotating props, jack plates, got the engines tuned, and everything working. I mean everything works, tabs, all the gauges (temp, pressure, trim, tachs, ect), Engines are running great, and pull hard, just tap the key and they start. I was told both engines are low time, and after messing with them to get them synced up, I believe it. I was also told this was an 80+ MPH boat, and that I do not believe.

I also went thru the 2000 aluminum Quick Load trailer, new lights ( nice lights, not the cheap ones) all new wiring, any joints were soldered ( no splices), new disk brakes, calipers, HD master, lines. Also angle cut the bunks to match the boat, and added plastic slides. Boat is SUPER easy to load and unload. Just get it close when driving onto trailer, and it'll self center. I did it with the intention of keeping it, so it's done right.

I have 5 lower units. The 220 specials only came with RH lowers, with a 1.73 ratio. I have those lowers, which are in great shape, with a pair of Yamaha 26 pitch drag props. This is the speed setup that was claimed to push low/mid 80s.....
I put a pair of 1.86 counter rotating lowers on it ( one spare RH 1.86 lower), and have three sets of props. Was still experimenting, and haven't sold any of the props yet, and will include all. A pair of 25 Mirage props, which really lifts the bow nice. They liked to be jacked a little higher, and pushed the top end really nice. Bottom end wasn't great as props are not ventilated. Only real downside was they are solid hub, which is hard on the lowers.

I finished the season running a pair of Laser 23s, and the boat was doing an honest 63-65 on the GPS and speedo, but engines needed a bit more prop.

I found a NIB LH Laser 25, and a slightly used RH Laser late fall, but didn;t have a chance to try them. I think these will be the sweet spot for great all around performance. I like the thru hub for all around boating, and the boat popped out of the water with 23s. I think the 25s are going to be perfect. If interested in just top end, I believe you could pickup some top end if you switched it back to the 1.73 lowers, and 26 drag props....your choice

I was told the transom floor and stringers were done by previous owner. Can see the transom was done, and it is very solid. I have not found any soft spots anywhere. Interior is original, and needs to be done. I had planned to pull the engines off over the winter, paint them, and fix the splash well the right way. Was actually looking a doing a splashweel cover when I had the interior done. I included one really ugly picture of what needs to be done. I did seal it up and quickly flat blacked it until I could do it right.

Surgery changed my plans, and it would probably be smart to sell it to someone who likes these boats as I do. Boat is ready to go...just add gas and oil. I call it a project as I didn't get a chance to finish everything I wanted to do.

Boat is put away, but if there is some interest I'll pull it out. To see more pix, click on picture to go to photobucket
I'll take $5500, if you want to offer me a $1000 less, it's $6500;)

Wow Ragtap, sorry to hear about your back surgery. Your price is extremely fair for your boat.....good luck!

I agree, seems like an extremely fair price for what you have there. Hate to see you selling it under these circumstances, but hopefully she goes to a good owner!

Not gonna lie, it has me thinking......

Thanks guys

My son (20) got a little upset when I mentioned it might sell it. I think he wants to use it this summer...we'll see what happens

1340 mile trip. Wish I had the time but just to far. Looks like a great deal. Sorry about your health and hope you decide to keep it. Best of wishes to you.

Yeah, that's a long trip. We're heading to Michigan in June for nieces graduation. Brother and sister in-law live in Farmington Hills, and have a cabin on Rush Lake in Atlanta. That said, I'm not sure my 260K mile Tahoe is up for pulling it that far :o

I was thinking of it but decided to keep the Starflite one more season. I do want to move up to 25-28 feet in the near future. The water I run in on the St Lawrence River can get real snotty and the wife would like to return from a ride without black and blue marks. Can't blame her. We're not getting any younger and I still like speed. I'm not ready for a casket yet. LOL
