Ok guys i have a 1988 johnson gt150 with two low holes...My buddy has a good 1985 2.6 gt i guess a 235hp powerhead? Just wondering if i could pull my gt150 powerhead off and bolt this new 2.6gt to my lower unit? Any help will be appreciated...this is going on my new 1981 checkmate sportfire...Bought it on e-bay last month..jeremy:confused::shakehead: o yeah how hard of a job is this to do if possible?

Pretty sure that should just bolt right on. The 2.6 is just a bigger bore block ( 160 cube) vs your 150 hp ( 149 cube) but other than that it will fit. You might want to ask him for the tuner too as I think they might have been different. The easiest way to check is see if the base gasket part #'s will are the same or supersede each other to the same one.

I can't imagine why they won't fit as those mid-sections and gearcases are identical.

thanks groucho..what is the tuner?..i will buy the whole engine from him only reason i dont use it is because it is a 25 shaft and i need my 20 shaft....where is the tuner located?
