This CM is local to me, so I decided to go look at it. What a damn shame that someone would neglect a boat like this. The mate has been uncovered for three years in the backyard of this guys house. Can the mate be restored and look new again? The floor was crumbling under my weight as i walked around inside. The good out of all this no stress cracks on the gelcoat that I could find even though it's faded. The pictures with tell the story.:( http://charleston.craigslist.org/search/boo?zoomToPosting=&query=checkmate&srchType=A&minAsk=&maxAsk=

That's a damn shame, she's a goner, maybe the trailer, motor and some of the hardware is worth a few bucks, boat belongs at the dump, was there a center windshield with it? Should offer him a 6 pack for that if there is one, always someone looking for that.

Pictures in the ad showed promise. Too bad its been neglected this much. Might be good for a complete gut project for around $300.

I didn't see the center piece for the windshield. He did say he had the another handrail for the drivers side which is missing in the pictures.

Haha... that is exactly what mine looked like when I got it. Ton of work. Not for the faint of heart. The trailer park in the background of the ad tells the rest of the story.

So true!!! What really got me is he had a new dodge charger and a Harley Davidson in the garage.

she can be restored. that is an interesting trailer!

Yes I agree!! From what I remember it's galvinzed, needed tires to move the boat.

Yeah I might call back with a really low ball offer, can always part it out.:D Just from looking at the boat yesterday, figured up around $1000.00 for mat, resin and lumber for the floor replacement (high end) another $1500+ for interior. The gelcoat on the bottom is good needs a good buffing, the top probably would water sand and buff. Worse case shoot new clear gelcoat on it.

yeah reminds me of mine when i got her...but much cheaper....can be restored but alot of effort on someones part...probably a good running boat in its day...what a shame....

I thinking about a stupid low offer of maybe $700.00. That's what the motor is worth.:D

sounds good, but check that motor first..... i gave ya the basic checklist...i think you got it from there...

The motor and the trailer is worth the $ plus im sure you can get him down on the price it could be brought back but you will have 2k in it to make right pick it up for a grand put 2 in it you got a nice 3k Mate that will run 60 all day long if it was closer I would scoop it.

I'm actually thinking about it. I'm looking at another mate as well.
