The Persuader is looking beautiful Pat, too bad your parting with it but I'm sure the general and you will pick another beauty for the next boat.

Good luck with the sale and can' wait too see the next one.

Thanks Kurt, I know I will probably have seller's remorse if/when it goes, but I do have my eye on another one. Just waiting to get some info on it and see if I make a trip to go see it. If I wind up not doing anything, I will still enjoy it this year.

By the way, you ever get moved or are you still up north?

By the way, you ever get moved or are you still up north?

I'm finally settled down in NC now { well kinda } -- I do still have my home up in NE with most of my belongings still in it, not sure yet if I want to sell it or rent it for a while.
But I have my truck, my Harley, my off road toys, my Checkmate, and my new trailer all with me and registered.

Living in Clayton NC, but looking for some heavily wooded land out around the blue ridge mountains to build a vacation log home hopefully on or near some big water.

Not to change the subject but did you see any noticeable performance increase with the exhaust and distributor swap? Thinking of doing the same thing with my 454 Mag.

I didn't expect to see a lot of improvement, though it may have made a few more horses (Imco claims 40 or so and DUI claims 15), I doubt that will translate to much more speed if any. I didn't make the changes with that in mind. I did the exhaust more for looks and weight reduction. Till I removed the old Mercruiser exhaust, I didn't realize that they were so heavy. The new Imco manifolds and risers are like a feather in comparison. I never liked the look of the old exhaust with the Corsa Quick and Quiet on it. Looks more streamlined now, at least in my opinion.

Didn't have the opportunity to do much running last year after the exhaust change and didn't get the new distributor installed till right at the end of the season (other family obligations). Have only run the distributor on muffs thus far. It ran good and did seem to be a little more responsive than the old TB V. As soon as I get a couple of good weather days here, I will put her in the water, recheck the timing and see what she will do. Want to make sure it runs good before it gets sold.

In response to your question.

We finally had a nice day last week and I took the boat out. After I ran it the first time, was very disappointed, ran like c*%p. Stopped at the dock and checked. Found a wire had come off. Plugged it back in, reset the timing and tried again.

Second time out it ran much better. Felt better out of the hole than before the mod and midrange also seemed more responsive. Don't know if it was faster, but maybe wishful thinking made me think so. Will check on gps next time out.

At this point, I am happy with the upgrades.

I would really like to sell this boat. Have my eye on another Checkmate.

Most everything on this boat has been rebuilt or upgraded whether it needed it or not. It is in better condition now, than when I bought it.

$23000 OBO

Thanks

Thanks. I hated to do it, but the boss still wants a MCOB and I had run out of things to repair and replace (except for the motor and outdrive), so it was time.
