pick up the boat this summer runs great , 7.4 with bravo 1, but has no trim tabs and seems porpoise at crusing speeds would trim tabs help?

I also have a 98 253 and never have had trouble with it wanting to porpose. I have the set of trim tabs that came from the factory that I drop all the way down for take-off, but I raise them all the way up for top end. I can trim the motor all the way up and throw a good rooster-tail but never porposing. I believe the trim tabs would be a good start.
