2007 Checkmate Poker Run

I must admit that 1st leg of the run and then the run to Kelley's Island were the most fun I've had boating all season - I'm really looking forward to seeing
those pics! All involved were fine people with a similar passion, great boating
on great boats! I hope to see this event grow in the future - we'll be there!

(it takes a well built boat to handle those waters and at high speeds - every
Checkmate boat on the run did exactly that!)

I was wondering what time did everyone make over to Kelly's Island.
Plus I decided to pick up some gage bezels with the $100 gift cert. I won. Its should just cover it except shipping of course. But I can't decide to with red or yellow against the black gages and boat.

Dogschool, your boat ran great last week-end. I was amazed at how well it handled the big water to Kelley's island.

Thanks, but it was actually running on poor spark - stuck old stock wire set on after breakn 2 of my 8mm wires and lost 5 mph and 3000 rpm - so it actually runs better than it performed saturday - that was one awesome group of boats to run with - we plan on head back up at the end of the month to run it again and spend a night or two - feel free to join us!

Are you going over to Put-in Bay if head back up at end of the month. Its only apx 8 miles more to the east.

definetly - Jamey and I got to run over to put-in-bay on friday while we were waiting for our wives to get there with his boat and we had planned to take them over on Sunday but it rained us out.

and by the way, mate229, your boat is awesome! made mine look slow!

I know that some in our group took photos of the action of the first run under the bridges and back to Lyman harbour and then of that Kelley's
run - which was nothing short of extreme boating - I hope they are able
to post them - the C hawk group said they took 180 pics - love to see
and figure they are great pics!

Yes I have more pic's. Just getting ready to go through and see which ones I haven't posted yet. Bt the way, the guy with the kool tat is new to this site. His log in name is, just checkin. I met him at the factory on friday and he gave me a place to stay at the bay. Very nice guy. Him and his friends. Thanks again Jason. boatman

I was just going to say the guy with the tat was Jason, he's a local around here, and a great guy to deal with.

Thanks Gary. :)

I know the work that is involved in uploading stuff, so your efforts are much appreciated.

Here's a few that I like. :thumb:

And my hat is off to the man who started it all. I told Hill-Bill-y Combs this past weekend that he was responsible for me being single now, and then I thanked him! Great Job Bill and family! boatman

Ha Ha,, :rof: Thats funny, 'cause it might be Doug that makes it so that I am single soon. Crazy how that works. :cheers

Have to say I am very impressed not to find one stress crack on my whole boat. Spent a lot of time cleaning then wiping down then waxing, and not one sign of the abuse was evident. I have witnessed other brands breaking in half at other runs in water half that big.
Had three loose screws that required the zip tie trick. Oh and some marks from the Casino raft-off beating but we will get those fixed.
One of my motor mounts did loosen up some but got everything re-aligned last night.
Hope this event goes off next year too, have a few more Checkmaters who want to venture out with us.
