2010 Muskoka, ON Checkmate Rally

Muskoka

Member
Back by popular demand, a group of Muskoka Lakes Checkmate owners are organizing the second annual Muskoka Checkmate Rally. We are targeting Saturday July 17th, 2010. We would meet at the Gravenhurst, ON, Muskoka Wharf @ 10am. Lots of docking, good launching facilities, new hotel and great trailer parking available.

Our cruise this year will take us up Lake Muskoka, through the Bala loop to Port Carling with lunch again at the famous Turtle Jacks. Then, through the locks for a scenic tour around Lake Rosseau and Lake Joseph; and back to Muskoka for late afternoon refreshments at Boston Pizza.

Who is interested? Does this date work? Please reply or send an email to the Rally Chairman, Michael Hart, michael.hart@rogers.com for details.

I'm looking forward to it this year. Last year my boat wasn't in any condition to show it's ugly head. Plus I was working. I'm hoping this year i will have it in viewable condition.

LOOKIN FORWARD TOO IT

I said to my wife last week that this year we will trailer our boat to Rossau or Joe and cruise for the day, from Manitowaubing. This takes all the guess work out of charts ect.... count me in

Logistics for 2010 Muskoka Checkmate Rally

4 weeks today is our annual Muskoka Checkmate Rally, I hope you have locked Saturday July 17th in your calendar and will attend. We have a number of you already confirmed and look forward to a great day touring the Muskoka Lakes. There is no registration fee.

We have moved the starting/meeting location to Baycliffe Park in Milford Bay, Lake Muskoka. Our Gravenhurst location was locked down on the selected date with a triathlon, with swimmers in the bay. Baycliffe Park is a public park, with a large public dock and parking (former Inn on the Bay site). There is a good (free) boat launch ramp, nice beach and lots of truck/ trailer parking for those trailering up. Milford Bay road is just off Hwy # 118 between Bracebridge and Port Carling. This will give a close to private meeting area, as not many people use this park. Note there are no amenities on-site (i.e. restaurants). There are public washrooms available. Map location, just below the Red A on the map below: Google Maps: Baycliffe Park, Lake Muskoka

T-shirts: We are getting custom made Checkmate event t-shirts this year. Please let me know if you would like to order some and I will arrange for printing. What size (S, M, L, XL,XXL) & how many? I expect the cost will be about $15. per t-shirt. I am still looking for a sponsor (person, marina, dealer or company) to donate the shirts, otherwise we will fund them the old fashion way: cash at my cost.

Our Rally this year will take us through the Bala loop and bridge system, to Port Carling. We have a dedicated room booked at Turtle Jack's again for lunch at 12 noon. We will then head through the locks for a Lake Rosseau and Lake Joseph tour. Please pass this note or attached flyer on to others in your Checkmate network.

Reminder - Muskoka Checkmate Rally July 17

Finally we have some great summer boating weather; the long range forecast is for a sunny day this Saturday July 17th! We are all set for the Muskoka Checkmate Rally, again this year. Our tour route is all mapped out, t-shirts ordered for those who wanted one, lunch booked at Turtle Jacks and lots of excited people. We meet at Baycliffe Park in Milford Bay, ON at 10am. Don't forget to come with a full tank of gas....so we don't have to fight the weekend gas line-ups.

Please forward this note to your fellow "Mate's" who may not be on this distribution list.

Look forward to seeing you and spending a great day on the water.

The weather is going to hold from what I can see
Anyone have an idea of how many boats are going to attend this year.?

Just a quick post to Thank Michael again for co ordinating another great outing. The Checkmates took some licking but kept on ticking as we bounced our way around the BIG three. As far as I know everyone made it back with no more than a few screws and bolts to re tighten.

Almost forgot .. the T Shirts turned out perfect as well !!

Great to see everyone again !!!

Hey Bruce,

Do you guys have any pics to post?

If you have a lot, let me know and I'll create a gallery category for them. :)

-Chris

Hi Chris, not sure how many pictures are floating around from the rally ....Michael had sent a couple out to us who attended which probably came from his camera. If other's chime in about some more than maybe it's worthwhile.

Thanks for the offer just the same .....

Bruce

I'm in for next year year for sure! I saw the post too late this year to make it.
I could probably convince some of the other three Check's on the lake to make it too. Have ourselves a little convoy from Kushog to Muskoka.
I used to be "Chequemate" on this site but lost my password and can't figure out how to resurrect it.

Hi there, sorry about the sideway shots ... got hit with a thunder storm/ power outage so I didn't have an opportunity to fix things up.

Maybe Chris will see this and fix it up for us

Bruce

It was a great day and good run. Thanks to the guys who attended: Ianz, Brian, Jason, Kirk, Perry, Bruce, Bill, Ron, Mark, Chris E, and company. The afternoon certainly tested hull stability in the big waves on Lake Joseph.

We had a few awesome rips in the morning. I sold all the Muskoka Checkmate Rally t-shirts....would look for Kip or a dealer to fund them next year. I got tons of pics if anyone wants some, just dont know how to post them here.

Ianz, thanks for the dock blender drinks after!
