234 Persuader 454mag prop help?

winter

Active member
I'm a newbie at I/O's, forgive the ignorance on this subject. I have a 92 Persuader 234 with a warmed over 454 mag and bravo1 1.5 ratio. I'm seeing low 70's now with decent take-offs, so I'm quite happy. The prop is a 23p Solas with 14.5" diameter. I'ts a $350 prop so it certainly isn't high end. Can I do better? I will at times have 7-8 people and gear on board, but more likely it will be two buddies and a case of beer. What is the preferred prop for this application? I'm looking more for a brand name as opposed to specs, but of course, I need to figure out that as well. Any direction would be appreciated! :thumb:

trial and error is the only way to find the right prop

start with a mirage the same pitch as the solas

how does the solas run gps speed rpm handling and so on?

a lot of people like hydromotive 4-blades on the bigger mates

do you get any porposing now?

you want a stern-lifting prop for shure

I'm well aware of the 'trial and error' function, been there/done that allot. I guess i'm really looking for a brand name first and foremost, then i'll worry about the sizing. I haven't put allot of miles on it yet, so it's hard to note the handling and porpoising. Neither seem very bad. If I had to guess, i'd say the Solas is pretty dern good. But i'm always searching for better.

I'm going to second what red said...bravo 1 try a 24....running a 26 on my 251..but with more power..Rob

I'm close to you - size/power

I have a 2000 235 Persuader w/454 and I'm running a 25P Mirage Plus with good results - high 70's.

Good luck.

I have a 2002 Convincor with a 496 HO. I currently have a 23 pitch 3 blade and it will run 73-74 speedometer.(NO GPS) at 5000 rpms. I also have a 4 blade prop that is 24 pitch. It say HC CL24. Not sure what kind it is! Any help with this, as I think it is a hydromotive?

Any ideas what I should be running???

Thanks,

jason

Jason, you may want to start a seperate thread on this, you won't get much traffic in someone elses post. ;)
